Why does Canada insist on medicalizing confused kids when there is little evidence to support doing so?

The website vancouver is awesome.com is far from awesome. It kind of sucks actually. In a recent article, re-posted from The Canadian Press (who are also not awesome) featuring a confused trans-activist man named Fae Johnston, who likes to wear lipstick and eyeliner and enjoys when others pretend he’s a girl, the not awesome “journalist” Alessia Passafiume repeatedly referred to he (Johnston) as “she,” and seemed to defend the ludicrous idea that Canadian passports should have an option for marking sex as male, female, or “X.”

Canadian passports do indeed feature this option. Johnston’s passport is marked X, so naturally he is in hysterics over the Trump administration's decision to recognize only the two genders (male and female) that are found in reality. Johnston claimed this amounted to “nothing short of an existential assault on the very existence of trans and gender-diverse people both in America and around the world.”

"Would I be allowed into the country in the first place? Would I be safe in a society where you've got a president leaning into that hateful rhetoric?" Johnston told his not awesome interviewer. "Trans folks just want to live our lives."

While “Johnston wants Canada to update its guidelines on travel to the U.S. and to explain what it means for trans Canadians crossing the border,” it is doubtful that the overwhelming majority of Canadians think this issue is worth wasting any time on. Personally, I think men like Johnston are nearing the end of their undeserved and extended fifteen minutes. The inevitable day he and others like him crawl back under the rocks from whence they came, cannot come soon enough. And since the cultural tide is turning, and the celebration of degeneracy is definitely out, I’d bet a hundred bucks it comes sooner than later.

Clearly though we still have a long way to go in Canada. I wouldn’t be surprised if readers had become numb to the shocking reality of the worst medical scandal perpetrated against children in the history of advanced medicine. After all, it unfolds like a slow motion train-wreck. For those paying attention, they have been watching a real-time catastrophe over the course of several years. It’s easily been the most horrifying thing I’ve ever bore witness to. So many children have been ruined.

The last time I broached this topic was in March of 2024 when I wrote an essay for the MacDonald Laurier Institute on the federal government’s Trans-Affirming Toolkit – an insane piece of trans-activist propaganda meant to indoctrinate Canadian teachers into affirming so-called “trans children.” The British Cass Review had been published not long before this. Back then, it was clear that many jurisdictions all over the Western world were backtracking on their commitments to gender affirming care for minors. Then in December the U.K. Government upgraded the “pause” on the use of puberty blockers for minors to an “indefinite” ban on their use. But Sadly, Canada has not joined the chorus of nations who have moved to pause the experimental and dangerous practices outlined in the Cass Review.

Recently, Canadian researchers have produced their own studies which seem to confirm the findings of Dr. Cass. As the National Post reported, “one federally funded study that followed 174 children who were under 16 when they were referred to one of 10 gender identity clinics in Canada found 74 per cent were put on puberty blockers. Nearly two-thirds went on to masculinizing or feminizing hormones.” In spite of this, it remains to be seen if anything substantial will be done in Canada to protect children from the radical transgenderism, including unnecessary irreversible sex-reassignment surgeries, it has so far embraced.

The butchers in the medical establishment who set children on gender affirming pathways, and those who perform the irreversible surgeries are among the most immoral of the modern age. Unlike third world tyrants, genocidaires, and war-mongers, gender reassignment surgeons who mutilate children irreversibly, live among us, are accepted, even celebrated in polite society. It is a sign of a deep societal sickness. Even though a major victory against trans insanity is now playing out in the aggressive moves taken by the Trump administration, Canada is just not getting the memo. Are we the most insane people in the Western world or what?

One Canadian who does get it, in a big way, is journalist Mia Hughes – who is most well known as the author of the WPATH files which exposed the unscientific guidelines concerning trans-gender health from the world’s leading trans-gender healthcare authority. She recently laid out a compelling argument in a ten-part X thread, in which the gist is that we are dealing with a social contagion. That is, the sudden explosion in the interest in gender identity, and the trans phenomenon which began in the early 2000s with Caitlyn Jenner and a reality show about a “trans youth” called I Am Jazz.

Mia explains that the transgender mass social contagion is not that different from other mass contagions like bulimia nervosa (binging and purging), which was a big issue in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1979, British psychologist Gerald Russell published a study based on thirty of his patients over a period of seven years (women who had exhibited the unusual eating disorder). By the mid-1990s thirty million people worldwide (mostly adolescent girls) were affected by bulimia. From Mia:

“The explanation for this rapid spread is what philosopher Ian Hacking calls 'semantic contagion' - how the process of naming and describing a condition creates the means by which the condition spreads”

To give the reader an idea of how gender ideology and transgenderism have spread like a social, and even semantic contagion in Canada, the following was recently reported in the National Post:

“In Ottawa, the gender diversity clinic at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario once saw one to two patients a year. The clinic now cares for 400 to 500 children and teens over the course of a typical year.”

In the penultimate post of Mia’s X thread she writes, “Just as this new, atypical type of gender dysphoria was emerging, gender clinics, at the behest of activist groups, abandoned the psychotherapeutic approach of watchful waiting and adopted the affirmative model - fast-tracking these teens to irreversible medical procedures.”

We can never forget that the madness of our times comes from the social justice left. It was they who collectivized and politicized every ragged group of perverts and ne'er-do-wells found in the remotest fringes of iniquitous subcultures. They overturned rocks that let out degenerate creatures who should have been left where they were. They weaponized the concept of human rights, twisted things so that those sorry creatures, organized to militate against oppression and social injustice, and rebranded as the “equity-deserving,” were then sacralized and assigned prestige that somehow warranted them extra rights.

In the mind of the deranged left, there are few things more sacred and deserving of special protective rights than the exalted “trans child.” An absolutely abominable concept. An impossible concept. An immeasurably cruel concept. The so-called trans child is a fiction. It is a lie believed wholeheartedly by those who should hold no importance in society. The credulous have failed. They are not leaders nor role-models. They are cautionary tales that teach us not to be like one who would promote or advocate for unspeakable atrocities against children based on manipulative nonsense concerning the stereo-typical nature of gender expression.

We now live in a world where every reader of this essay (with rare exception) has encountered someone, or someone they know who knows someone else, who has taken up a gender identity while the confused people around them, who in many cases love them, scramble to affirm them. It’s a nightmare, which often includes setting vulnerable children on unnecessary medical pathways that often lead to sterility and irreversible body disfiguration. But make no mistake about it, this and the lion share of all the madness that accumulates into what now gets described as “clown world,” is the outcome of many decades of radical leftist revolutionary activism.

Rejecting the revolutionary ideology that promotes the mutilation of children is easy, but properly assigning responsibility for that ideology to the far-left radicals, and the useful idiot moderate left who apologize for them, is essential if we are ever going to overcome this obstacle and save the lives of children swept up in the current of clown world madness.

In the meantime, please stand against the transing of children – the biggest medical scandal perpetrated against children in the history of modern medicine.

In the final post of Mia’s X thread, she writes “We're in the eye of the storm right now, so most people can't see the damage being done. But soon, all the young people emerging from this contagion sterile and missing body parts will be visible for all to see, and people will be horrified that they supported such evil.”
