Don’t get me wrong dear readers. I love Woke Watch Canada. I spend an insane amount of time working on it. I think it is important, maybe even crucial. The people who contribute writing to these pages are tops in my book. It is a gratifying joy to witness the expanding readership, and to so often hear from thoughtful readers with keen insights. For me, Woke Watch Canada has led to invaluable friendships and many long-distance email-exchanging intellectual relationships with truth-seekers from all over this vast country and beyond.

The experience of running this newsletter, in spite of the frustrating and often depressing nature of the topics we cover, has been nothing short of edifying and transformative. It’s been a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing. And it has become the absolute tip of an enormously cathartic point of pride. Thank you to all the readers who make the work involved so worthwhile. The success of this Substack is directly proportional to the amount of readers who share and engage with the work. This is how we get our message out and join the larger discourse concerning cultural and political matters in Canada. The readership makes it happen.

An important point I wish to make today is simply that Woke Watch Canada will continue. Full stop. I have no plans to slow down or alter the approach in a substantial way. On the contrary, my plans are to grow the readership and the influence of WWC — (Trump voice): to heights the world has never seen. However, I do have some other ideas as well.

Fresh Out of the Oven!

What’s required is something new, something different to smooth out a rift in the fabric of space-time that I have reluctantly identified. The situation simply cannot be addressed by my current operating procedures.

Woke Watch Canada cannot and does not exam some of my larger concerns about the current course of the Western world. Instead, I try (but don’t always succeed) to keep Woke Watch focused on Canadian issues. That seems right to me. I think readers agree. To them, I re-assert the commitment to the way in which Woke Watch Canada analyzes and editorializes the education system, as well as the politics, history and culture of our great nation. And, in case it wasn’t already understood, I declare that Woke Watch Canada is for Canadians.

In order for myself, and the writers I have tapped, to be able to stretch our commentary beyond the borders of Canada, I decided to launch a new newsletter. For now it will be on Substack. This is so because I have yet to find another publishing platform that makes it so easy to publish writing, coral readers, and build both paying and non-paying subscribers. In addition, Substack seems to be legitimately committed to free speech. I have published just shy of 600 articles on Woke Watch Canada which have dealt honestly (sometimes even brutally) with the most contentious, politically incorrect, and ultra woke topics imaginable. We have not had one word censored. Ever! That is saying something. I think Substack has earned our loyalty.

Without further delay, allow me to introduce the all new, exciting, dazzling, historic, and sure to be thought-provoking and brilliant newsletter: The Western Polemic.

(Note: this is the world wide launch! Woke Watch Canada readers are the first to know about it. You can subscribe to The Western Polemic today before anyone else. However, there will not be any content until tomorrow).

What About It?

The Western Polemic will expand the political/cultural analysis of Woke Watch Canada to include the larger Western world. It will be a big picture newsletter/publishing hub that will mount a defense of Western civilization while examining and critiquing those things which undermine it. It will be a place where Western traditions (both religious and intellectual) will be honoured, elucidated, explored and preserved through essays and articles written by those who understand the uniqueness and importance of the Western world.

In the days and weeks ahead I will have more to say about the editorial mission of the Western Polemic. Admittedly, I have been planning to launch it for over a year, but have not been able to get organized enough and felt that conditions were not quite right. Like having children, the conditions will never be perfect. But I say make some children anyway, once they get here, you will figure out what to do. That is how my children entered the world, and I regret nothing. So, the Western Polemic must be born regardless of the timing or conditions on the ground in the publishing world. It has been on my mind for well over a year. It nags at me. It has taken on the character of unfinished business or of an opportunity left on the table. I have no choice but to launch it now. The universe will hold no peace for me until I do.

At least for the foreseeable future, I plan to link the Western Polemic to Woke Watch Canada. I feel that many readers here will want to also read the Western Polemic – as mentioned the subject matter is similar, just broader. The Western Polemic will offer some free articles and some will be behind a paywall. However, paid subscribers of Woke Watch will have access to the paywalled Western Polemic essays which I will repost here for them. My hope in doing this, is that more readers will upgrade their Woke Watch subscriptions to paid subscriptions, in order to access the paywalled Western Polemic content. So please do upgrade!

Woke Watch Canada paid subscribers will not need to take out paid subscriptions to the Western Polemic. A paid subscription to either will get readers access to ALL of the articles and essays. However, if you are a successful business-minded person who “has it like that,” you are more than welcomed to support both newsletter with paid subscriptions (it’s not necessary, but would be much appreciated).

I will be publishing the first Western Polemic piece tomorrow! It will be un-paywalled on both the Western Polemic and Woke Watch Canada (the WP paywall will begin within the next couple of weeks). It is an exclusive article written by the brilliant “anthropologist at large” Geoffrey Clarfield, on the plight of the Yazidi. The Western Polemic will not shy away from coverage of the Middle East as this is where perhaps the most consequential modern battles for Western liberalism will take place. But also, because of the way in which Middle East politics have infiltrated and infested the Western World, most notably Canada.

So there you have it. I hope you are all as excited about the Western Polemic as I am. I’d love to hear ideas from readers on the possibilities (which seem endless!) of what can be done with the Western Polemic concept.
