Law Society Of Ontario Elections - Action Needed Today!
Calling all Ontario Lawyers & Paralegals to put a Full Stop to wokeism
The Law Society of Ontario (LSO) is a regulator overseeing the competence and conduct of nearly 60,000 lawyers and 15,000 paralegals. Today is the beginning of an important election holding vital implications regarding the manipulation and outright bullying of lawyers coerced into acquiescence of the the highly illiberal Social Justice movement.
Lawyers are now able to vote in the 2023 Bencher Election until the cutoff of 5pm on April 25th.
Essential background on the woke takeover of Canadian law societies can be found in an article written for New Discourses by Canadian lawyer Lisa Bildy. From that piece:
“Several years ago, on the basis of a deeply flawed report that was riddled with methodological deficiencies and motivated reasoning, the Law Society decided it had found what it went looking for—systemic racism in the profession. This notwithstanding an earlier report conducted 15 years ago, which found no such thing.”
We have seen this activist tactic before in several other sectors of society. The Peel District School Board, where my children attend school, is one of several Canadian boards who in the recent past relied on shoddy studies that supposedly “uncovered racist barriers.” Of course, the Social Justice activists previously claimed this racism existed and that their “studies” confirmed what was always known. And of course, this was done in order to impose identity politics and illiberal progressive policies under the guise of “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion,” and “anti-racism.”
In what appears to be little more than a power grab, the activist class seeks to impose their agenda on society. Specifically, through lawyers and paralegals, to ensure that Social Justice ideology be thoroughly installed and implemented into the methods, structures, rules and best practices around the ways in which law is interpreted and applied, for the ultimate realization of utopian fantasies like “equity,” and other tenets of the Social Justice movement.
Below is a copy of the email sent out this morning to the Lighthouse network, with more details and calls-to-action:
Today marks the start of a very important election at the Law Society of Ontario: The 2023 Bencher Election.
The Bencher Election is, in essence, the election of the Board of Directors who will steer the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) policy over the next four years. Much like many of our institutions in the province, woke activists have commandeered these positions where illiberal policies based in Diversity Equity and Inclusion are ushered in.
There are two competing campaigns that have a slate of candidates: The very woke Good Governance Coalition (GGC) and FullStop Campaign. The FullStop is led by a team of courageous lawyers which seek to stop the ideological capture of the LSO.
We cannot emphasize enough what is at stake.
There is good news, however. Through the power of the Lighthouse network, a group known as Citizens for Justice (Twitter @_Citz4Justice) has formed and developed a grassroots campaign to raise awareness of this critical election. With an understanding of the importance and urgency of this election, this group is actively contacting both lawyers and paralegals across this province advocating for the FullStop slate of candidates.
Much like our political landscape here in Canada, voter turnout is typically low which is very problematic. We need all hands on deck!
Our Call to Action is as follows:
1. Speak with Ontario lawyer contacts you know and ask them to vote. Use the following copy of the Citizens for Justice letter as your template.
2. Share on social media using hashtags #BencherElection2023 & #FullStop
3. Comment on law and news articles voicing your support of the FullStop candidates:
We need to stop the FullStop, Canadian Lawyer Magazine, April 10, 2023.

All registered lawyers in Ontario are able to cast a ballot starting April 19 through April 28. Many do not take the opportunity to do so. Please notify family members and friends so we can ensure that the Law Society of Ontario remains politically neutral.
FullStop is our voice, don’t let the woke authoritarians silence them!

Please help spread the word about the FullStop Bencher candidates. We need to help save the Law Society from ideological corruption and ensure that Ontario citizens have access to justice!

2) By donating to the Canadian School Board Investigation fund, which is raising money to expand Woke Watch Canada’s research and investigation into dysfunctional Canadian school boards.
Please God do not let the woke take over our law society
Having testified in Ontario courts at all levels in several thousand criminal cases I can tell you that by far most lawyers are very smart and would not be duped by the woke. Having been cross examined by lawyers such as Arthur Maloney, J.J. Robinette, Austen Cooper and many more legal eagles I can say that they would not be swayed by lies and untruths. There are however many others that are lesser lights wandering the halls of courtrooms that would make you weep if you realized how inept they are.
This however is not the problem as I see it as I have witnessed politics at play inside the Halls off Justice and personally found this disgusting part of the system to be not only repugnant and a vile abuse of the system but willingly accepted and acted on by those very same lawyers and Judges without so much as a by your leave or kiss my ass. Therein lies the truth of it and that will win the day.
