How about calling it, "National Menticide Day" to actually capture the mental illness syndrome currently gripping Canada. One word effectively captures my sentiment to the news in your article.

"VOMITUS" As a baby boomer value programmed by the post war period of National Patriotism and historical primacy, I am more than saddened to see the values of a good country dragged down the rabbit hole of Wokeness by vacuous individuals desperate to garner approval for their political correctness.

In the words of Thomas Paine, "WHEN MEN YIELD UP THE PRIVELEGE OF THINKING, THE LAST SHADOW OF LIBERTY QUITS THE HORIZON."

A very good article, thanks for sharing.

Good points on the religion angle and multiculturalism. This type of Canada Day is part of a trend, and it is getting more and more extreme. I would quote George Harrison here "All Things Must Pass," this will pass too... in Victoria, they are not even going to sing O Canada, just have aboriginal drumming on Canada Day, but over in Langford, a suburb, there's kind of a rebellion going on with a very traditional Canada Day.. I think Langford represents a change in the tide. The tide will turn as evidence will continue to show there was no intentional genocide in Canada. Ideologues do not care about evidence, but they will become a smaller and smaller number as their claims become more and more absurd and people tire of being hectored on the basis of their race and referred to constantly as "settlers" implying second class citizenship, even though they were born in Canada, etc.

I live in Langford -- well, the Highlands but same thing. I'm not surprised to see some sort of pushback from Langfordites. Glad to hear it. Maybe I'll make my way down the hill on July 1st and see what's up. I know I won't be going downtown at all to the second day of "national indigenous day"

I think 'New Day ' should be a prompt and opportunity to show some traditional patriotic sentiment, as in flying the flag in the front yard and organizing local marches to and gatherings around still standing traditional monuments, giving speeches about what a wonderful place Canada is for citizens and its children, that people from the rest of the world would risk their lives to come to..... and singing the national anthem loudly and often.

I never thought I would ever hear myself saying such things, because they used to sound and feel a bit, well...schmaltzy. But not anymore, for we are now under attack and it is time to defensively draw ourselves together around our icons, and prepare ourselves to fight for them against the Dark Lord of the Woke.

Agreed. There is a "New Culture Forum" movement in Britain currently which is doing precisely this, to counter the constant negative deconstruction of their history from the post modernists.

Initiated by Peter Whittle just after Jordan Peterson’s “Gotcha” moment on the Channel 4 News segment with Cathy Newman, hence the New Culture Forum Phrase “So What You’re Saying Is….”!

Canada really needs a counter culture forum like this, outside the clutches of the ‘Academy🤡’.

What we are dealing with here is no longer part of a normal civil discourse, so much as an ideological/cultural coup that has long been in assembly, but was rolled out in 2016, in a response to a groundswell challenge to the authority of the postmodernist trained Woke Ascendancy that now controls our system of social reproduction and administration.

This Ascendancy is actively closing down and replacing our culture and its history. And unfortunately, it has taken the rest of us far too long to work out that this is what is going on, which means that the coup has already been rolled out into all our major social and political institutions.

We are starting way behind the eight ball and we have a lot of 'catching up' to do to even begin a robust face off against not opponents with which we have a disagreement, but enemies who are playing for keeps, and not just with us, but our children, who they are sexually and racially grooming to doubt their own normal sexual feelings and civilizational roots.

Unfortunately, almost inevitably, this is going to end very badly.

It's the same thing in Halifax now where they are going to call it 'Ka'nata Day'. Where there is a void in leadership in the country, there is also a deficit! (pun intended) https://www.halifax.ca/parks-recreation/events/canada-day

I’ve not seen a word from him yet regarding the Queer Theory doctrine permeating K-12, the data harvesting questionnaires in schools for Transformative Social Emotional Learning, the Friereian curriculum coup by which ‘Literacy’ does not mean reading a book, but rather, reading your ‘social/political environment & accepting your place in it as an oppressor, or the oppressed. What the Friereians (that’s most teachers now) call ‘generative knowledge’ as opposed to traditional knowledge & skills. ‘Culturally relevant teaching’ enforces this further. When is Pierre going to stand up for our children and clean house within the School system, ridding it of DEI, CRT & all other woke indoctrination?
