This some classic rights-talk bullshit: “For months, my riding office has been under daily threat. Every individual has the full right to protest, to express their opinions, and to make their discontent heard. However, no matter the point of view, nothing can excuse vandalism and the endangerment of others."

Well consider, Marc, s-v-p, another "point of view," which evidently some people hold: Some things can (and do) excuse (justify) vandalism and the endangerment of others. On this p.o.v., those who vandalized your offices were just exercising, in accordance with their p.o.v., their "full right to protest, to express their opinions, and to make their discontent heard." (But of course in Pew's view, we should not agree with this latter p.o.v. -- why? -- because we are Canadians! Presumably those who are not Canadian are free to concoct some other reason for disagreeing, or, of course, to go ahead and agree with those who disagree with Miller's BS rights-talk.)

“It is unacceptable and wrong that acts of vandalism and arson are being seen across the country....I understand the anger that’s out there against the federal government.... It is real and it’s fully understandable, given the shameful history that we are all becoming more and more aware of " (in Israel this time)

...and it is understandable; the problem is that "what happened" is not what happened, i.e., the whole thing was based on a grotesque pack of lies. The problem is not that people are not being consistent in hewing fast to their commitment to (BS) liberal rights; the problem is that people are liars.

‘Why can't we agree that all acts of politically motivated vandalism, threats and violence are equally wrong?” Perhaps you mean all non state acts because many state acts are political violence designed to intimidate. But is violence by non state actors ever justified? I doubt you think so. Consider the Hungarians who faced off against Soviet tanks in 56? Were they not justified? Perhaps you don’t like that example. Consider the taking of Japanese Canadians property and forced expulsion from the coast? Would this justify violence on their part? Does it matter if the majority favoured this violence against them? Or consider the forced closing of businesses during the covid lockdowns, Or consider the deliberate inflation by the monetary authorities Is this not theft? Perhaps you don’t think it is violence if the state does it. Just asking

Actually l just laugh at people that think this conflict started out- of-the-blue on October 7 2023 and it's all Hamas' doing. Had you been following the ME as l have been for 35+ years you would know better.

So does it make you feel good to laugh at these (imaginary?) people?

I too wish we were better than this James. I wish Canada would distance itself from the US and UK imperialist war machine. I wish we could all agree that the Israeli genocide in Palestine would end. IMO It's not a left or right political issue. It's a right or wrong moral issue.

PS We just received Grave Error from Amazon. My husbands eyes are still good enough for the small print. I'll have to wait a while for the audio version.
