Above all, this is excellent writing. Government apologies are as pathetic and insincere as they are Canadian.

Canada needs more to stand and state the craziness we witness daily. If enough stay "stop the stupidity" some return to sanity has to happen.

The ability to sincerely apologize is a sign of maturity and personal strength. Plenty of people are unable to do so, and that represents a character flaw. But equally, the propensity to apologize too much, is a sign of psychopathology. It doesn't take much for the ability to apologize to slip from being a character strength to a character weakness.

This is an absolutely delighful essay. Where offense is omnipresent, requisite apolgies are equally omnipresent. Unfortunately both lose any meaning and are totally unsatisfying
