The problem with multiculturalism is that it presumes all cultures ae equal.

The traditional Canadian (Western) culture has produced a free rich society that millions of people around the world would love to move to.

Other cultures have not produced rich free societies and many want to flee them to move to Western-style countries.

Change the traditional Canadian culture and the result might not be as free and rich as it is.

If “O Canada being sung in Punjabi at a Winnipeg Jets hockey game, and a 55 foot Hindu statue...erected in Brampton Ontario” are accepted (of note, neither violent sport nor religious chest-thumping appeals to me), then let’s bring back statues of Ryerson and Macdonald and countless others that the woke barbarians destroyed.

Btw I should add that from what I remember of the 1970s and the thinking around the creation of 'multi-culturalism', it had two motivations: 1) To create an alternative social arrangement to combat what was perceived as the great social evil, post war - ethic nationalism and 2) be different from the US. This need to be different than the USA has permeated Canadian culture for at least 150 years, maybe longer, and is especially strong in the Canadian cultural elites are who are simultaneously insecure, and, intellectual snobs.

As a Jewish Canadian who's been studying the "long march of cultural Marxism" through our institutions (e.g: education, government, media and more) for about 25 years I worried that Canada would become as hostile to folks of my faith as the country my grandparents escaped from! Which was Russia! Like Ayn Rand (the famous Russian Jewish immigrant who spent her life and career opposing Marxism) , my grandparents were what the Communists called the “owner” class. Meaning they were small merchants or ranchers. Canada – with its predominantly English/French culture that encouraged personal freedom, responsibility and entrepreneurship – was a breath of fresh air when they arrived here (from 1917 to 1922).

To be sure, there was anti-Semitism in my grandparents’ and parents’ day. Jewish quotas at universities. So-called “gentlemen’s agreements” not to accept Jews at certain clubs, restaurants and hotels. But it was not the rabid, life-altering anti-Semitism/anti-Whiteness that I am experiencing now. In fact I rarely experienced any anti-Semitism before toxic “multiculturalism” took root here. By the time I was a teenager and young adult, Jewish Canadians were accepted pretty much everywhere. Most of my friends were non-Jewish, as was my first husband. All of their parents and grandparents were European immigrants. Religion wasn’t a “thing” for any of us. We were family. We were friends.

Fast forward to the last few years. I tense up every time I encounter someone of color because I don’t know what’s going to come out of their mouth. The Arab taxi driver who, after the massacre of Israelis by Hamas on Oct 7, tried to start a fight with me in his cab. (I hadn’t said a word to him. It was totally unprovoked and I guess he figured I was Jewish because of the neighborhood I live in.) The young black woman who tried to push ahead of me in a snack bar line and called me a “Karen” when I wouldn’t let her! (Karen is the woke word for a white woman they consider “aggressive”).

Multiculturalism isn’t acceptance of diversity. It’s just another weapon in the cultural Marxist arsenal to promote hatred and chaos. Bring back Canada’s core cultures to our institutions. To our streets. To our lives. And let the Marxists be damned.

This is an important subject that needs more study. Good for taking it on. I never realized that 'multi-culturalism' was an invention of the 1970s and it was, and is, an EXPERIMENT. Its clear it has failed.
