As far as I can tell, the “6,000” number is simply a claim made repeatedly by Murray Sinclair. This is quite odd, since the TRC Report he authored gives a different number (423 died at the schools, and a couple thousand died within a year of leaving the schools, making a total of 3200). Sinclair also said “6,000, maybe 5 times that many”. A claim doesn’t become a fact just because it is made repeatedly- except, apparently in BC where facts are irrelevant, and indigenous people are entitled to their own “truths”
"A claim doesn’t become a fact just because it is made repeatedly ..." Oh yes it does. If an Indigenous shill of the UN says it even once, it is 'evidence' and fact and don't anyone dare challenged that!
You can thank Jody Wilson-Raybould for this situation, for she instructed AGs never to question any claim ... just pay it. People thought she was a 'good' politician up against big, bad Trudeau, but the fact was that the issue about SNC Lavalin was intended to be a distraction while she passed the legislation to turn our tax dollars over to the Aboriginal Industry fraudsters. Before the public could learn the consequences of her betrayal, she 'resigned'.
The Aboriginal fraud industry is an existential threat to our nation and it's time it stopped.
Excuse me? So, just because the number was inflated (It’s actually reported at roughly 3 thousand children) means that it doesn’t matter if they died by the hands of residential schools? There are significant amounts of evidence to support the fact that abuse ran rampant in these schools. Remember the purpose of them was to eradicate “savages” by forcefully and sometimes violently assimilating them? I don’t think that they would care about these children if they saw them that way and they obviously didn’t. If you don’t think that a genocide should be acknowledged, then you don’t belong here.
First of all, there is no evidence that abuse ran 'rampant' at these IRS. No one is denying that abuse occured at IRS and in fact at most schools right across Canada. To claim this you would have to claim that the parents themselves who worked and taught at the schools abused their own kids.
There is evidence that most children were well cared for despite coming from extremely traumatic home lives on the reservces, and most suffered alcohol fetal syndrome.
You need to put things into the proper context of the times: in those days, corporal punishment was the norm, at school and at home. There was no more 'abuse' at IRS then at home or at regular Canadian schools. I know because in the 1950s when I was in a regular school, I was strapped mercilessly and it was not considered abuse by anyone.
In those days, no one considered alcoholism something that needed constant marketing as a societal 'problem'. There were millions of Europeans with drinking problems. The difference is that Europeans did not 'blame' other cultures for making them drink.
Yet, Indians keep telling us that Europeans are responsible for the choices that adult Indians made and make. So we have paid them a trillion dollars according to some accounts, but all it's done is make them more addicted, as they have now moved to drugs. But I don't hear the Indian Chiefs attack the Chinese who have brought the fentyanl and other deadly drugs to the reserves. In fact, many of those Chiefs protect the drug traffickers with their race-based laws and demands for special privileges.
Double-standard perhaps, or is it that Canadians can be emotionally-blackmailed into paying billions while the Chinese would tell them to take a hike.
Secondly, the reason I don't buy the narrative that the government was trying to 'genocide' the Indian is because:
(a) when a government intends to wipe out a society, they don't bother building schools, hospitals or pay large sums of treaty money first;
(b) when a government intends to genocide a society, they don't bother giving them life-saving treatments first, nor do they given them guns, horses and wheel-vehicles for more efficient hunting; they don't build forts to protect the smaller tribes from the likes of the Iroquois;
(c) they don't continue to pay the intended targets welfare for another 100 years.
There are other common sense reasons why I think that the divisive language about genocide, etc needs to stop. I hope you reconsider.
In a true genocide the numbers of the targetted drop to zero, like the Iroquois and several other large tribes did to over 600 smaller tribes that they totally exterminated long before the Europeans arrived.
Obviously, if the numbers of Indians went from 200,000 max before the Europeans arrived, to 2 million today, either there is something wrong with the thinking of those who keep claiming there was a genocide OR the government is pretty incompetent at conducting genocides.
Brilliant, Nina !!! Your article perfectly defines the pathology that results when lies metastasize. Perhaps, in fairness, this may be attributed to the toxic affects of generational alcohol abuse and it's offspring, Fetal Alcohol Disorder Spectrum causing it's victims of not knowing right from wrong. Such continual hubris does make for a pretty interesting story if you are a fan of fictional horror. In keeping with the theme of the iconic childhood story of the Emperor's New Clothes would it not be timely for a small child to come forward and tell our delusional politicians that the genocide hoax is bereft of attire ??

31 eh? Wowzer, if I am correct, and I am quite sure that I am, about that many schoolteachers have been charged in the last year alone all over Canada in Public & high schools for sexual
assault, quite a few of them were female teachers.
I had a Private investigation Agency in Ontario (GTA) between 1981-1999 & conducted most if not all investigations in Ontario & other parts of Canada for federal Agencies I am unaware of any other agencies who did this. Quite a few were in those days done for Police Departments as there was no Government agency at that time for Police misconduct charges there were nowhere near thousands that is ridiculous.
Clearly the problem is that Canada’s so called “First Nations” cannot delineate the truth specifically this First nations Leadership Council’s modus operandi is to knowingly substitute false information in place of the truth. In fact since about 2005 the First Nations Leadership Council has worked to manipulate the political system by subjecting Canadians and politicians to a never ending diatribe of misinformation, disinformation and outright falsification of the facts.
Fact is that when the First Nations Leadership Council’s errors are raised with them, the silence of “no response” is what they hold up as a shield to hide behind from the truth for the First Nations Leadership Council fears the truth as it will be their undoing.
The First Nations Leadership Council are in fact the purveyors of great works of fiction.
Sure hope this has been sent to Hugh Braker, the First Nations Summit, and the First Nations Leadership Council. I suppose we'd be silly to expect a response, however.

This child graves nonsense has been proven to be a hoax already.
Anyone pushing it is a criminal and should be called out.
Same with the stolen land cult.
A solid public slap in the face is due.
