Perhaps those students would like to hold a glass night event by breaking the windows of people who disagree with their beliefs, throw in a little book burning party to promote their new agenda. I would suggest wearing nice new uniforms to show they are important and even building some nice work camps for dissidents. Work makes you free!
Dr. Widdowson is being swept up in the indiscriminate hate mongering associated with not following the Indigenous narrative spun in this country. Ironically, she is a socialist and for my tastes leans too far towards the Native side of the scale. Those protesters were intentionally whipped up by nefarious forces who want to shut down any nuance of the debate. It's sad that this former tenured professor was hunted down and subjected to actual hate, in a university no less. Even her Zoom meeting wasn't immune to the haters. Go to mark 1:30:45 and listen to the troll. I doubt the news organizations will breathlessly report about misogynistic attacks when it's against a non-conforming white woman.
The MSM didn't say anything about the many misogynistic slurs directed to Se. Beyak when she tried to interject some nuance into the historical narrative of the IRS.
What an incredibly brave and principled woman. And what a nasty bunch of idiotic brainwashed Maoists the students are. Mindless drones repeating hatred against something they don't even understand. Hopefully they will grow up and acquire a little wisdom someday.
That protester should be recognized with an honorary name: Grey Coat Shouting Woman.
I feel sadness for her. She carries great anger and is convinced that white settlers are the source of all her pain – and of all “her people’s” pain. It’s just one example among many of how the IRS graves narrative is ginning up grief and causing distress (emotional harm in the REAL sense) to individuals and communities. And yet we keep hearing FN spokespeople saying things like “Survivors hope this [GPR survey, graves investigation, etc.] will help with the healing process.” Huh?
So it’s hateful to say “in my opinion the schools were not genocidal,” whereas it’s – what? – soothing? – to say that they were? It’s hurtful to have to hear that some students benefitted from residential schools, but it’s comforting (satisfying? validating?) to believe that thousands of can’t-be-named-children were murdered?
Where was Paul Viminitz when Widdowson was being mobbed? I loved the lady in the grey coat. She is why North American Indians always let the ladies do the torturing of captives. The men didn't have the stomach to do the mean things that resentful ladies did to foreign captives, I understand this phenomenon quite well since my Celt ancestors did the same things with Roman Captives way back in the time of the Roman Empire. It was why the Romans built Hadrian's wall. British and Irish Celts always let the resentful (some say hysterical) ladies do the torturing. Human nature never changes.
I didn't see him standing with her even though it was his invitation that brought her there. I've seen their rational space disputations. He ought to have been with her, methinks. Maybe he had a good excuse. I dunno.
Great lady does she tour Canada? Would love for her to speak at our University
Maybe! We will message you her email address.

The zealots are winning.

No, she was thoroughly condemned for wrongthink.

Cheers Dr. Widdowson!
I am riveted to this story of a brave woman taking on an anti-intellectual and pernicious university mob. Thank you for the links!
Canada needs courageous people like Professor Widdowson.
Without courage, freedom of expression and thought all you have is a hoĺlowed out husk pretending to be a university.
