The archived records about how John removed the top page of the BNA to hide the fact that none of the then 3 provinces were interested in forming a Dominion, proves that there was never a union, never a confederation, never a federation and therefore never the formation of a 'nation'. This fact was then confirmed on House of Commons letterhead in Nov 1940.
The then 3 provinces (colonies) were sovereign and refused to join a Dominion, which means they would be dominated by the British parent. They wanted a federation like the US have ... a sovereign nation of sovereign states, where they could maintain their power and authority. What the colonial office of Macdonald wanted was a BRITISH North America, but the provinces wanted no British, only North America.
The intention was also to do that without going through proper British parliamentary process. Thus the BNA bill was never tabled by a Minister as required. The BNA was and remains to this day a British document and there is NO original in Canada ... it is somewhere in Britian.
John was given a wife, a title (Sir) and a whole lot of money to keep his mouth shut about this failure to turn the sovereign provinces into a group of colonies dominated by the British. There is tons of evidence, but it keeps getting buried over deliberately, or gets lost in the constitution/election noise. The cost of getting thousands of documents onto a website is almost prohibitive for most researchers.
A group called People-United have been researching all this and a lot more for 22 years, but on top of the costs of FOIs, software, etc, they simply cannot raise the money needed to have a professional set up a website and properly transfer all the word-pdfs to the site.
