Dear School District 33 Board of Trustees,

I write to you today as a resident of Canada with great concerns regarding a public Facebook post made on October 23, 2023 by a Dr. Carin Bondar on the Facebook page named “Dr. Carin Bondar, SD33 Trustee”. This post was made in response to the growing concerns of residents across Canada in regards to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity being promoted in education and the 1MillionMarch4Children event held on September 20, 2023 and October 21, 2023. Please accept this letter as my formal request to have this video removed from all social media platforms as well as a public apology provided, for the following reasons:

      1.Statements made by Dr. Carin Bondar in the video are defamatory to myself and many other residents of Canada. Due to School District 33 Policy 120 #3 which states “The Board functions as a corporate Board and speaks with one voice”, the entire Board of Trustees for School District 33 is liable for these statements. I present the following statements from the video as evidence of defamation of character towards a significant number of Canadian residents, again, myself included:

*Time stamp 2:37-2:53 “I would actually argue that these protestors are hellbent on sexualizing children, because it is all they ever talk about. They’re obsessed with genitals and sex”.

*Time stamp 8:52-9:00 “with people um in this community that are so anti trans and anti human rights for trans individuals”.

*Time stamp 14:08-14:14 “number two; stop sexualization of children, there, this (stutters) is you guys, you guys are the ones sexualizing”.

Dr.Carin Bondar had best have evidence to support these public statements about Canadian residents. If she is unable to provide such evidence, the statements indeed fall under the description of Defamation of Character as laid out in the Canadian Criminal Code here:

        2.Dr.Carin Bondar makes statements in the video that are misleading, which causes misinformation and disinformation among the public. I present the following statements made by Dr. Bondar in the video as evidence of this:

*Time stamp 1:26-1:33 “these are the SOGI resources, umm do not sexualize children in any way”.

This is a false statement. There is substantial evidence to prove that SOGI123 resources do in fact sexualize children. For example the book Let’s Talk About It is recommended for ages 10 and up and can be found in school across BC. The definition of a child is “a young human being below the age of puberty, or below the legal age of majority”. That would be anywhere from the age 17 and lower. The resource includes information on masturbation, kinks, pornography, sexual intercourse, sex toys and more. The definition of sexualizing children is “introducing adult sexuality to a child before they are ready”. A person is often ready for adult sexuality when they naturally come across it on their own, usually during puberty. This differs from person to person, meaning an age can not be given as a guide. This statement deceives the public about what is really being made available to our children in public education.

*Time stamp 7:40-8:07 “Many of the hormone blocking type of ah drugs that are used in this regard they’re kind of like hitting a pause button on aspects of development or aspect of hormone ahh function. And so you kinda hit that pause button and then those things stop and medically you can unpause that button and then you know what was happening previously will continue to happen again”

This statement misleads the audience as it does not include any of the warnings in regards to side effects or risks involved with hormone blockers. To educate yourself on the warnings, risks and side effects of hormone blocking please follow these links:

It is irresponsible and unethical to advertise a medical treatment, first without the educational background to do so, and second without including side effects and risks involved with the treatment. Dr. Carin Bondar does not have the medical degree required to give such advice nor did she perform due diligence in providing warnings for risks and side effects. This could cause an uneducated listener to make decisions about their health without knowing the facts.

*Time stamp 8:07-8-20 “and that would be what’s happening with people who have detransitioned, and yes indeed approximately 2% of the people in the trans community do experience a desire to detransition”.

This statement is misleading as the current data actually states the percentage of detranstitioners today is difficult to know for certain therefore estimated between 2% and 25%. Dr. Bondar chose the smallest number in an effort to mislead public opinion about the facts of the current data that can be seen here:

*Time stamp 8:24-8:30 “my background is in biological science and Ive done a lot of, you know, research, I guess you could say”

Again Dr. Bondar is being misleading with her comments. Dr. Carin Bondar holds a PhD in freshwater population ecology from the University of British Columbia. She is not a specialist in human biology, however her statement suggests she is, given the topic she is discussing. Her expertise in biology is with Crayfish, not Homo sapiens. Please note these are only a select few examples of Dr. Carin Bondar’s defamatory and or false and misleading statements she makes in her video. As per the BCCA principles applying to the removal of internet publications which are claimed to be defamatory, this is my formal request that this video, https://www.facebook.com/.../pfbid026zKmQ6FyZLEHPPBHfNVSB... , be removed immediately from the internet. I also request a public apology from the Board for participating in misleading and defamatory communications with the public at large.
