&This Week in the Canadian Gender Wars:
It was a busy week in Canada on the frontlines of the gender wars, and we are not talking about radical feminists squaring off against incels and so-called MRAs (Mens Rights Activists). The cracks are showing in the coherence of the radical transgender narrative and politicians continue to embarrass themselves defending the predatory behavior of men by citing provincial human rights codes.
Two events involving male-bodied people in girls changing rooms sparked controversy and protest in the last week, the first in Nanaimo BC and the second in Saskatoon. In both incidents it appeared that adult men sought to either expose themselves or peep on teens and girls and then claim that their presence in girls changerooms was their human right because they identify as women.
Friend of Woke Watch Canada, Scott Geiler, a supporter of LGB Alliance Canada and resident of Nanaimo, BC, joined the protest outside the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre last weekend with others proudly wearing shirts from LGB Alliance and Gays Against Groomers. Scott, who was a gay rights activist in Vancouver decades ago, told Woke Watch Canada that he’s sad that he has had to fight for gay and lesbian rights again and that he spoke to applause at the protest defending the privacy rights of girls and the sex-based rights of women.
A statement followed a few days later from the Nanaimo Pride Society, an Alphabet+ group with a safe space policy, about the harms of bigotry and anti-trans talking points.
Following the incident, Geiler was contacted by local police who requested an “interview,” which he declined. He has since retained lawyer, Karen Bastow, out of concern he may face spurious criminal allegations.

This incident follows another recent case only a few minutes drive from Nanaimo, where a trans-identified male made international news for making complaints against a gym owner for not allowing “her” to use the women’s only gym, saying he was devastated his rights were being violated. The private gym owner in Parksville took the brave stance of defending the concerns of female gym members in the name of their comfort instead of pandering to the desires of one man who claims to be a woman. It’s a sad day for this poor fellow, who calls himself Brigid, but there are many co-ed gyms that he would be welcome at.
Meanwhile in Saskatoon following a protest at city hall last week, a local city counsellor, David Kirton (Ward 3), defended the so-called rights of a naked man who has repeatedly walked around the women’s changeroom in front of young girls preparing for swim class. Parents and concerned citizens braved temperatures south of minus 30 degrees Celsius to voice their concerns.
According to the Western Standard, “Shaw Centre staff told parents that anyone could use whatever change room aligns with their gender identity.” A reporter who contacted the Shaw Center was told the same policy.
One wonders how long the major corporations who are name sponsors of these facilities, will tolerate their brand being associated apologists for peepers, flashers, and predators.

The biggest story of the week however comes from a small town just east of Ottawa. A Renfrew Catholic Highschool Student, Josh Alexander, who led a protest at the school in November 2022 because of concerns that teenage boys identifying as girls were violating the privacy of female students. Trans-Identified students were using girls change rooms and washrooms when gender neutral washrooms are available to protect everyone’s dignity.
Following a recent open class discussion, Alexander was suspended from school for the remainder of the year for exposing his religious views in front of everyone. He said unashamedly that God Created men and women. He also cited biological reality in the class discussion. This apparently made some students “feel unsafe” which led to his suspension. Mr. Alexander chose to attend school on Monday the 6th of February and was met in the classroom by the vice principal and arrested moments later for trespassing.

People around the world must be asking themselves, “What the hell is going on in Canada? They’re so open minded their brains have fallen out”

On February 5th, Canadian opinion writer Barbara Kay wrote in her National Post column on the situation of trans women (men identifying as women) transferring into women’s prisons.
In Scotland, “a pause was called in all movement from men’s to women’s prisons, pending a review by the Scottish Prison Service.” This was sparked by public outrage over the planned transfer to a women’s prison of a trans identifying man convicted of violent sex offences.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), had been pushing for “passage of her gender recognition reform bill, which would allow people to legally change their gender after self-identifying as the opposite sex for three months and remove the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria.”
Barbara points out that Canada has had a similar policy since 2018. Put in place by the Trudeau government, it has had “exactly the results one would expect.”
The Canadian Bar Association also believes that “It is imperative that the policy be attentive to the realities and needs of trans women and trans men.” But, as Barbara points out: “about the constitutional, sex-based rights of women? Nothing.”
When will Canadian leaders take notice of the outrage over policies allowing biologically born males to share space with imprisoned females? That they haven’t already, and that this cruel and misogynistic practice continues, leads one to believe as Barbara Kay put succinctly, “In our brave new world, gender mysticism has replaced justice. The sane mind reels.”

On February 7th - The New, Highly Touted Study On Hormones For Transgender Teens Doesn’t Really Tell Us Much Of Anything by Jesse Singal (from his “Single Minded” Substack).
In this essay, Jesse examines a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine called - “Psychosocial Functioning in Transgender Youth after 2 Years of Hormones.” This is a long-form comprehensive essay which walks the reader through the results of the study following a cohort of kids who had been administered puberty blockers or hormones for the last two years. Even though the abstract of the study is worded in a way that implies positive results, a closer look under the hood reveals a different picture.
On Feb 3rd - The Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans (PITT) Substack, published an essay called Trust Transferred from Parent to Predator. A very sad and shocking account from a parents perspective, of their teenage autistic son’s capture by gender ideology.

Great summary of recent madness involving trans zealots. Story of Josh Alexander should awaken people to insidiousness of woke ideology in schools: not just teachers like me are cancelled but students who challenge prevailing narratives. Restricted inquiry is antithetical to education.
