Thank you for reminding me that I am not going nuts like my own sister suggested the other day. Sometimes I feel like a voice in the wilderness while those around me swallow the Kool-Aid.

The feeling is mutual. I do feel that I am walking among zombie-like people who cannot see what is in front of their eyes, cannot hear the screams, cannot feel the melting heat of hell, and still continue to lick their ice cream while walking towards an ethnic- not Canadian- cultural event hosted by our elected officials and probably paid for from public coffers. :(

Mention the Freedom Convoy, they lose their minds, say those were selfish Canadians who didn’t care about keeping us safe. I haven’t even mentioned vaccine injuries. They’re all heavily vaccinated

Thanks. It’s ironic that many of the people who are incredulous that the average German allowed National Socialism to flourish are the same people who refuse to look at what is right in front of them.

Truer words have never been spoken! Thank you for speaking the TRUTH. Many of us true Canadians know, and believe. Our Truth will take over the Liberal (WEF) Lie is unraveling. UNLESS we as a Country really want to become absorbed by our U.S. neighbour, this hand picked goverment of the WEF not the people of Canada will have to change tactics. More and more our country is going into deeper deep debt and can't find ways to get out and our economy is being strangled by talkers not doers. Infrastructure in every Provience, city, town, is crumbling and none of our mayers, members of Proviencial Parliment s,or the Federal Goverment, seneters any of them care about keeping Canada and it's people viable, healthy . All they are worried about is THEIR GREED AND HOW MUCH MONEY THEY AS INDIVIDUALS CAN PUT IN THEIR OWN POCKETS. HOW THEY WILL BENIFET ! JUST LOOK AT THE DRUG ADDICTS, HOMELESSNESS, EMPTY BUSISNESS, derelict homes and buildings in every city and town . Overrun populations in every big city and our federal and proviencial goverments PAYING FOR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRENTS TO LIVE IN HOTELS COSTING CANADIANS MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS ??? WHY???CANADA IS NEARING THE END OF ITS LIES AND BIG BROTHER NEXT DOOR KNOWS JUST HOW TO BANKRUPT OUR COUNTRY. That even the elite banker they brought in to replace CROOKED TRUDEAU CANT BAIL OUT THIS COUNTRY. Especially as we know he bankrupted the last country he worked in. All Caring Canadians need to do is resurch his last job. They should have listened to the letter sent by the former board member of the UK BANK SAYING not to trust Carney befor our fake election.

Interestingly, we were warned in the 1980s of this shift towards wokeism and state authoritarianism and censorship by the Left by KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov. He spoke of deliberate campaigns of demoralization and ideological subversion via cultural Marxism (race and gender ideology, e.g., what we know today as CRT, DEI, and intersectional feminism, which dominate academia).

The timelines were a bit off -- it took longer than the KGB anticipated for the "long march through the institutions" to occur -- but the basic idea is correct. Leftism took on a life of its own, serving as a pseudo-religion for its adherents who pursued it relentlessly, aided by the spiritual vacuum left by the waning of Judeo-Christianity, mostly among urban dwellers. Millions of spiritually lost souls flocked to Leftist ideologies, with their promise of salvation through a Utopian society, requiring, of course, the destruction of the old (e.g., "smash the patriarchy").

They were followed by the rank-and-file followers, what Jordan Peterson termed "PC egalitarians" -- who subscribe to Leftism either out of fear of censure or because they have been indoctrinated to think that it represents a coherent foundation for morality, or because they want to virtue-signal to their friends that they are good people. This is the majority of Leftists. The authoritarians are an elite minority.

I myself was one of these followers who supported various Leftist causes for 25 years, attending marches and rallies, even getting arrested in "non-violent civil disobedience" rituals. The causes seemed just and righteous. Little did I know that I was a useful idiot for authoritarians who were using these causes as vehicles for their power lust and, in some cases, monetary gain. I still believe in environmental causes, for example, but now believe the climate change movement, like every other "social justice" cause, was hijacked by the neo-Marxist authoritarians. In fact, I saw it happen right before my eyes in committee meetings.

Eventually, a whole generation of people who grew up with Leftist ideas took over the reins of power in the West, eroding the principles of individual rights and freedoms that it's founded on, substituting these principles with collectivism, scapegoating, and ideological motivations.

The system of checks and balances ensuring fairness and good governance was torn down incrementally in law, media, government, and every institution -- often by "white liberal women" who didn't seem to know when to quit, sawing off the branch they were sitting on. If the West falls, it's not good for women or minorities. It will just usher in a new era of barbarism and totalitarianism. Islamism, Communism, and third-world corruption are the types of systems waiting to fill the power vacuum if the West falls.

There is no single cabal of conspirators behind this erosion of the West. Rather, it is the result of a combination of forces, not least of which is our complicity in allowing it to occur. Conservatives tend to stay silent in the face of Leftism, but that has been a mistake. We abandoned the culture war until only recently.

Now there is some hope because many conservatives have become culture warriors, and that's where the fight is, in the trenches of popular ideas and trends. Politics tends to be downstream of culture. It was these culture warriors who helped Trump win, much to the consternation of the Leftists. Articles like this one are important for conveying the idea that ideological subversion is what allowed Communism to take hold so easily in Eastern Europe and Asia, and Latin America.

Leftism is now destroying the West in various ways. Western Europe seems beyond hope, but the USA may yet prevail because millions of people there never abandoned the principles that made the West the greatest civilization in human history. It was my hope that Canada would follow but with the Carney win, that didn't happen. Canadians were duped by the CBC into thinking Trump was more of a threat than China or national debt. Delusional! But there is still hope that things will turn around. One cannot give up entirely.

And it has never been clearer, how a nations people can be so easily coerced or penalized into following government’s will. When the state broadcaster meekly continues to broadcast government policy and the state police figures apply the strongarm behind masks and helmets. Our very own friends and neighbours following orders without hesitation.Only took Justin Trudeau 10 years yet his people are all back.Carney is evil.

Thank you for sharing! Great read. Lots of sad but true.

"I am Canadian, a free Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship God in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, free to choose those who govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind."

(John Diefenbaker, House of Commons Debates, 1 July 1960)

The organization Samidoun, which organized the protest where people shouted "Death To Canada" and burnt the flag, has been named as a terrorist organization by the Canadian Goverment. So there's that.

Natasha, freedom is yours b/c you are a human being, not b/c you are Canadian. The freedom you enjoy b/c your Canadian govt says you enjoy it -- i.e., the kind Diefenbaker was apparently referring to -- is positivistic freedom (freedom determined by positive law, not by nature), and you still enjoy it, it just has limits (just as it did for your hero Diefenbaker).

Thank you, David, for reading and for sharing your views and insight. Correct, I was referring to the freedom under the law, the system that governs the society.

To clarify, I do not consider Mr. Diefenbaker my "hero"; I aspire to live by the statement he made.

God bless

Well hopefully you see the problem with that: You lament the loss of 'Canadian freedom' (as in Diefenbaker's rhetoric), but we still have 'Canadian freedom.' So why lament the loss of what you haven't lost?

The problem, in my view, is that Diefenbaker's statement wrongly emphasizes freedom, as if freedom were an absolute good, good in itself, while ignoring the obvious fact that there are necessary and just limits on freedom. Freedom talk thus devolves into an ill-defined distraction from the real problem, which is justice/injustice.

So the problem isn't loss of freedom, per se, but the imposition of stupid, vicious, unjust limitations of freedom. That's what I think you (and I) are really concerned about.

You have good things to say here. In the next few weeks we'll see what sort of sentences they give the two convoy organizers. The imposition of the Emergency Measures Act was unjust, vicious and stupid. The Federal Court ruled that the invocation of the Emergencies Act to deal with the Winter 2022 illegal demonstrations and blockades was unreasonable and that some of the temporary measures adopted violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This should be taken into consideration in the upcoming sentencing. I believe Lich and Barber should never have been charged with anything.

Respectfully, Mr. David, I disagree.

Simply because we are not hanged yet does not mean we are free. There are different ways to restrain people, and that is what I alluded to.

This piece was written because of the Freedom Convoy prosecution. I may not have been as clear as you would have preferred; however, I am not a professional writer and am simply grateful that James considered my piece worth sharing. Besides, it seems that a large number of readers have either understood the message, related to it, or found their own meaning in it.

Thanks for caring.

The fact that people agree with what you said does not mean either a) that they understood what you said or b) that they rightly understood the issue you were discussing. (Also, independently of how others react, the fact that you wrote something doesn't mean that you (rightly) understood what you wrote.) In politics, people tend to take the view that all that matters is getting/having people on your side. But in reality, truth matters. That's what I'm inviting you to think about more carefully. God's blessing is for those who love him, for those who care about the truth, not for those who prefer to seek worldly favour.

And thank you too for caring. We need the truth, but we also do need support from each other in fighting the good fight, which is what I'm intending to offer here.
