It seems like a fog: A courageous teacher speaks out
The Moral Courage speech Canadians need most!
By
By the last few months of the previous school year, what had been a burgeoning parents rights movement, was beginning to indicate to those most deeply involved, a forward momentum akin to an unstoppable force of nature. Myself and others suspected that parents rights would soon be thrust into the mainstream Canadian discourse.
Indeed, late last school year, the pace of noteworthy developments in the gender file began to accelerate. I remember being somewhat concerned about the workload taken on by Shannon Douglas, who was producing a weekly Gender Wars report for Woke Watch Canada. Shannon’s first few reports were not as intense as they would later become. At first, there was only one or two things to cover, but as school board meetings concerning the incursion of gender ideology and its consequences on school policies became more contentious, and as more parents began forming parents rights groups and taking their frustrations to social media, Shannon’s job became a massive undertaking.
Then, there was somewhat of a lull over the summer, but eventually, the new school year arrived. My first instinct was to describe this year's start as a “bang,” but I changed my mind and decided on “explosion” instead. What other word could do justice to the 1 Million March 4 Children parents rights protests that occurred across the nation on September 20th? In my view it was a decisive turning point in the struggle to restore sanity and protect children in Canadian education.
The momentum from the protests last week seems to be multiplying. It is clear that greater support for parents rights are inexorably linked to greater awareness of the ideological encroachment into our sacred institutions of public education. The realization that the politicization of the classroom, and the outrageous social experiments that place Canadian children as test subjects, has become a clear and present danger, is something that until a year or so ago, was not widely understood, and definitely not on the radars of most Canadians. All of this has changed. Thank you Jesus!
Today a courageous teacher in Manitoba has broken her silence. I do not yet know her name, but I plan to soon find out. This teacher has stepped into the ring. There is no going back to her old life now. The words she spoke, were beautiful in their resounding truth and clarity, but they were words that have long been forbidden to be spoken publicly.
The most powerful moment of her speech was when she proclaimed “we are finding over and over again that the people who should have the moral courage to stand for our kids can’t find it.” This was more true last year, than it is this year. This teacher, this wonderful, beautiful, caring soul, who cares enough about children and education to place her career in jeopardy, is proof that moral courage is growing in Canada.
As she calls for moral courage, she demonstrates it in the most meaningful way possible. This teacher and her inspiring words should forever go down in Canadian history as the hero who delivered the “Moral Courage” speech at the moment Canadians needed it most.
If enough teachers speak out like this teacher did, they would have a hard time cancelling them all. This is a moment for Canadian teachers to find the courage to speak up and support this courageous lone Manitoban teacher. I implore all Canadian teachers to do that.
I will find out who the mystery teacher is, and I will follow her story. Unfortunately, I predict her choice to deliver this speech will result in her cancellation, but only time will tell. For now, thank you mystery hero teacher for being an exceptionally principled Canadian.
Here is her speech (transcribed from X):
It seems like a fog. And nobody can really cut through this fog because what is happening in one school, in Manitoba anyway, is not happening in the other school. And what’s happening in one classroom is not the same thing as what’s happening in the next classroom - even if it’s just down the hallway.
And you might be hearing the stories because you’re hearing that there are kids who are being taught highly graphic - I wanna be careful of the kids who are here - but they are being taught all the things! Well beyond what they should possibly be taught in a school.
But some of us are sitting here saying well my kids safe, I know my teacher, they are a really good teacher. Well guys we are getting to the point where teachers are not going to be allowed to do the things that they’ve done for generations which is close their door and just teach. Because the agenda is so much bigger than the individual teacher. It’s so much bigger than the principal of the school. It’s so much bigger than your trustees, guys its bigger than our premier. And we are finding over and over again that the people who should have the moral courage to stand for our kids can’t find it.
So we need to pray for these people. And we need to pray for protection - you know, I didn’t want to be here, and Rick asked me to be here, and other people asked me to be here and so I had to think about it. And then I thought well, I could dress in a disguise, I could make my hair all crazy, and I don’t know how to do my makeup weird but I looked it up. There are some weird things you can do with your face!!
And then I thought, well guess what? I believe that I serve the one and true God, and that his law is higher than Dad’s law. And you gotta put on the full armour to do any of this stuff.
And it is crazy that I have to be here because I have different plans for my kids

Thank you, Mr Pew, that is a brave teacher. I would, however, take issue with the framing of the parental concerns as "parents' rights." It is better described as "parental responsibilities" and the responsibilities go one way from parent to child.
Parental responsibility is total at the beginning of a child's life with the aim of raising them to be responsible themselves as far as they are able and to be a productive member of society themselves. This includes instilling within a child values, faith, if they wish, character, a sense of self and of purpose. Schools should play an adjunct and collaboratory role in this adding knowledge, methodologies such as mathematics and pushing them to achieve their best and building character by taking on difficult tasks.
Not only are schools failing on this point, or perhaps precisely because they are failing, they are withdrawing from their collaboration with parents centring themselves in the role of raising them. Parents are rightly concerned.
In the particular issue of hiding a gender dysphoric child's issues from parents, this matters for two reasons. Firsty, the Cass Report in the UK on the largest paediatric gender clinic (now shut down) found that there is a 70% comorbidity with 5 other issues, for example autism, anorexia and suicide attempts. Affirmation is quickly being abandoned by progressive countries such as Norway and Holland and teacher is not qualified to make a judgement call on this. The parents are probably already dealing with a difficult situation and need to be able to take parental responsibility here in an holistic manner.
Secondly, unlike "coming out" as gay, which requires nothing of the listener, there are pages of protocols in many school boards advising how to socially transition a child without the parents' knowledge which simultaneously puts other children and the child themselves in potential danger when sharing dorms, sporting teams and washroom facilities with the opposite sex (see Loudoun County School Board in VA for details on how this might go wrong). This is an overreach of the schools adjunct and collaborative role to parents. It is not that the numbers are small to whom these protocols refer, but rather that schools feel emboldened enough to instigate them in the first place which has made parents like myself angry.
Amen.
Courage is exactly what is needed. And its lack is exactly what allows these woke travesties to flourish.
