Those are good points but no one ever talks about this elephant in the room:
The top 40 ENGOs received about $11.2 billion over the period 2000 to 2018.
• The “EnviroLaw” organizations received about $167 million over that same period.
• The combined revenues of the ENGOs and their EnviroLaw counterparts was almost $11.4 billion over the period.
• The total revenues received by all four main federal political parties over the period was about $631 million.
• The total revenues received by the major political parties at the federal government level and the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta over the period were $1.5 billion.
• The total revenues received by the market oriented (“conservative”) institutes over the period was $412 million.
• The revenues received by the ENGOs and their EnviroLaw counterparts over the period was over 18 times the revenues received by all federal political parties, and over 27 times the revenues received by the market-oriented institutes.
• Both Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Nature Conservancy Canada annually receive higher revenues than all the major federal political parties; a large portion of the funding to these organizations is from the federal government.
• The revenue received by the Tides organization alone is more than the combined revenues of Canada’s two largest federal political parties, the Liberal Party of Canada and the Conservative Party of Canada over the period.
• The David Suzuki Foundation’s average annual revenues exceed the annual revenues of the federal New Democratic Party.
• Eight ENGOs have annual revenues that exceed those of the governing Liberal Party of Canada.
Elections are a bout policy, and only policies, clearly the platform of the party should have been published well in advance of the election given the liberals had no agenda and are happily confiscating everything in it with no blowback ,
The Liberal perception ( not election) strategy was to swap out Trudeau because everyone and their dog hated him, then have Carney run against Trump. After all, the entire Western media was already messaging against Trump.
It seems remarkable that their platform is actually decided on and shared long after the campaign begins. I wanted it up front so we can ask questions and decide if we like it much sooner in the process. Again, done by design and it backfired massively for PP.
Thank you for articulating why, even though I wanted a change in government, I just could not vote for the CPC. All the campaign materials I received were negative, telling me what was wrong with Canada and saying nothing about 1) the CPC team or 2) the plans on how to "fix" Canada.
Your points on the CBC were spot on. Did the CPC realise that many who work for the CBC (which was threatened with defunding) were living in Pierre's old riding that he lost?
You’re wrong on so many fronts. You’re the problem with this country. I don’t like everything about the alternative so I’ll just keep voting for the destruction of Canada. Ugh!
All of these are great ideas - however, I doubt anything will change much. I wish I could say otherwise. The most important thing to the entrenched political parties is achieving and holding on to power; and any grassroots efforts to advance the will of the people within those parties will always be sacrificed at its altar. I leaned from my parents way back in the 1970’s that one should know what the parties stand for before casting a vote. Today that is easier than it was back then, as one can (..usually..) find the party platforms posted on-line. If our educational systems would include this kind of instruction in high school curricula, perhaps we wouldn’t be fooled into voting for globalists, the likes of which have run this once-great country into the ground. (Disclaimer - I voted PPC.)
Generally speaking, I agree with most of what you say here. As a western Canadian, though, the election made little difference to me. The federal Conservatives must get the east to support them to win. They can only do that by continuing policies that hurt my area and are completely unfair to the west. Back when Pierre was running to lead the party, he said he wouldn't change any of the policies that would improve life for western Canadians. It's an unfixable situation
I agree and also wrote a letter to Pierre that was also ignored prior to the election. When so-called leaders choose to ignore advice, they not only lose support but also risk losing as was the case.
Jenny Byrne is not the leader. Poilievre is the leader, and he should have demonstrated an ability to change the script when there was a major change of circumstances. The messaging in 2024 should have been about Liberal failures, not Trudeau failures so that dumping Trudeau would not negate the message. And then when Trudeau resigned it was obvious that the fix was in for Carney to replace him, so opposition research should have focused on Carney's flaws so they could be exposed during the campaign. Poilievre should have reacted to Trump's tariffs in a credible fashion to show he has what a PM needs, the ability to react effectively to major events. A possibility would have been to say that negotiating with Trump is a waste of time because he does not honor contracts, Trump's tariffs are probably illegal and may well go away, retaliations would hurt Canadians with no probable good effects, so the best elbows up is a boycott of those American goods and services that each person in their judgement, can do without.
Spot on comments. The CPC’s attempts to emulate MAGA tactics backfired and I acknowledge that this occurred thanks to their leader continuing (to this day) spouting his desire to absorb Canada as just one of 51 states. He did great harm to the campaign but that was also a misreading of the Cdn public by the CPC. Fortunately no matter what some say, Carney is not the incompetent and totally unqualified PM he replaced. It is a disgrace that JT was elected on such flimsy grounds. (Nice looks, son of PET, nice socks, perhaps a couple of other characteristics that relate not at all to being an MP much less a PM.)
I agree with some of this and Pierre is not perfect and neither is the Conservative Party. What I don’t want to see is Conservatives play into the Liberals hands and start attacking one another. If the Liberals do anything well it’s stand behind one another and stick to the party line. Conservatives need to do this too to be successful.
This extensive writeup, although full of interesting opinion does appear to be written by someone who didn't get what they wanted. How about moving on and looking for solutions?
It's a good piece. The parts you may wish to include;
11 MPs we know that are owned by Peking. There are estimates as high as 50. There names are an official secret.
In the 1990s, Alan Rock was asked at a news conference on the war between the Hell's Angels and Rock Machine how much his party had received from the Hell's Angels as a contribution.
The facilitation by the Liberal GOC of legal Cannabis with at least one member of the SCC , the PRC Ministry of State Security, the IRGC, and the Sinaloa Cartel enabled the Laurentian elites to prosper at the expense of our national security and public safely.
The foreign cartel take over of our national, provincial(BC) and municipal governments has been occurring in real time since the fall of Hong Kong.
This has occurred with the funding and collaboration of state and legacy media.
There has not been a free or fair election since 2015. CSIS is aware of PRC influence in 2019 and 2021. 2025 in my opinion was a PRC coup détat.
Our own intelligence agency has caught a former PM on surveillance meeting with triad leaders. He used illegal drugs. He broke many laws.
Chinese, Mex and Iranian control of our government is endemic.
It's not a leap to suggest Elections Canada has the same lack of ethics as ""Health" Canada. Health Canada is fine with the murder of the unborn, the sick and the infirm.
Free Canadians have not forgotten government violence being used on our peaceful freedom convoy or churches and pastors.
The suggestion that the PC Party is responsible for the Liberal(Communist) victory in 2025 ignores the fundamental issue that there was no such electoral contest to begin with.
Canada has abandoned their faith in God and disavowed our heritage as a Christian nation. We seek refuge in "men" when our true hope is in God as President Trump rightly acknowledges for his country of America.
Elections are a control mechanism. It is a theatre to control the people by blaming me, you, us..... It is always your fault life sucks, not the politician destroying your life.
Excellent insightful article. There was also the abject pandering to every ethnic group under the sun - including the Trudeau style wearing of headgear. I find that exploitative and distasteful. Also, the unquestioning support for Israel and Ukraine.
Whoever was / is advising Poilievre needs to be re-assigned. His image makeover was cringeworthy and phoney. He looked worse after the makeover.
Also, if Poilievre wins a tepid by-election victory next month, he will need to be replaced.
Replaced by who? Mistake would be to replace him. Conservatives need to stick with Poilievre and together. Look at Trump’s success. Not all Republicans love him but they stuck by him and fought like hell to get him elected once he was declared leader. We need to take those lessons here in Canada.
Under current rules a leadership campaign would render the party dormant for 6 months, and may be decided by $10 votes in Conservative lite ridings. The Convention issue should not be whether Poilievre should remain in place but instead about how a leader is selected. My preference is to return the selection of the leader to the caucus. Caucus selection would be done fast by people who know the likely winners, and who could repudiate a mistake fast if they made one and who have earned their chops by getting elected by many more votes than there are party members in their riding.
Apologize? Really . Yuu are holding PO to an impossible standard. One person cannot run the whole party. Certainly there are others who shoulder the blame. As a former ‘left of centre ‘ person I see Pierre as the best leader the CPC had had in a generation. While improvements can be made and your suggestions of meeting with candidates is a good one , I don’t hold Pierre responsible for the loss as there are many factors at play not all controlled by him.

If you were to vote on principals, then the PPC!
Not one with a snowball's chance in hell of winning.

Pierre ran a campaign for 4 years then self-destructed at the end.
Generally speaking, I agree with most of what you say here. As a western Canadian, though, the election made little difference to me. The problem is not east versus west. It is Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver versus the rest of the country.
Vancouver/Victoria are the odd ones in the west. Very socialist while most of BC is not but they have the larger share of the vote, unfortunately.
It sucks by design not error.
I agree and also wrote a letter to Pierre that was also ignored prior to the election. When so-called leaders choose to ignore advice, they not only lose support but also risk losing as was the case.
Perhaps the issue rests with the trust in Jenny Byrne and her management 'business'.

Thank you.
Your letter is like a mini-course on political (and life) common sense and courtesy.
I miss leaders like you.
Our loss - We needed (need) you.
Again, thank you for stepping up.

CPC has become liberal light. Slightly less queer.
