This has growing like a cancer in Canadian schools. Parents have to start doing what they are doing in the US and attending school board meetings enmasse to relay their disgust and concerns with such practices. They all hide behind the Human Rights Act that was extended to cover gender expression rights. In addition to teaching this garbage to children many schools have policies in place that don't allow teachers or any school staff to notify parents if their child is identifying by another name or is havign gender identity issues. How is that for a new kind of insanity.

I recently found out, via the hospital website, that the BC Children's Hospital gender affirmation clinic is "the busiest in North America," but you have to be UNDER 17 to be a patient. UNDER 17. There is no doubt that some transgender people are genuinely so, but as a commenter below states, this is growing like a cancer, and there cannot be any medical basis for the numbers. There must be other factors at play here, as the writer stated, factors which eager facilitators want to ignore, it seems. Several years back the head of the Australian psychiatric association wrote a commentary on the role of peer pressure in transgenderism. He no longer holds the position, even though his commentary was accurate.

"... wrote a commentary on the role of peer pressure ... " As did American journalist Abigail Shrier in her book "Irreversible Damage", and researcher Lisa Littman, whose university repudiated her. And Irish journalist Helen Joyce, author of "Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality" (fortunately The Economist magazine, where she is an editor, has not ejected her; she is I believe on sabbatical). I can't imagine a saner or more articulate voice than that of Helen Joyce; if the world dismisses her very earnest concerns, we are sunk, sunk, sunk.

I would love to speak to this mother. As a teacher with over 30 years experience, I have seen everything fall apart in the last few years.

My daughter fought with the school board for years regarding my Grandson who is high functioning autistic who did graduate last year with his grade 12 certificate. She found it very beneficial to appeal to the school boards Superintendent for the same reasons (being ignored by teachers and school principle) who demanded the teaching staff & principle meet with her and sort things out, she had to resort to going over their heads almost every year to obtain satisfaction. I should also suggest that the parent in this case obtain the services of a childs psychologist to submit a report to the school board in order to obtain an order to stop these upsetting classes.

I am happy to say that this forced the teachers and indeed the entire school board to comply with the parents wishes.

These arrogant teachers , principles and school boards need to be put in their place after all they are at the end of the day public servants whose salary is paid for by the parents (taxpayers).

That was an excellent letter, well done.

Here is the kicker in this parent's email: The Canadian government banned conversion therapy (as in mental health counselling), but they condone and support medical transitioning, which as this parent points out, is "the most dangerous and damaging form of conversion therapy" there is. The school "authorities" can't deny that what they're promoting IS conversion therapy, and so they refuse to respond.

Some Toronto/Ontario school boards are way out of line and unacceptable. Need to be placed under trusteeship.

Excellent effort by a heroic mother, but I can't help but think that the recourse at this point for non-insane parents is to pull their kids from public schools

The treatment of both parents and their children is anything but caring. There is no care and do no harm; the Hippocratic oath, parental rights, and governments supposed to be protecting humanity is a tragic joke! They have all become like gods unto themselves! The tide will turn and this will be a desecration upon humanity not seen since Hitler. My birth country has given itself over to evil.

That is the politest slam dunk I have seen in a long time.

No wonder she didn't get an answer from the school. What could they possibly say that would be anything but the slip, slide, weave 'n duck you get when ideological fluff, crib, fudge and bluff gets called?.....because this socially unnegotiated game of sexually grooming children depends on silence to sustain itself, while it palms off its institutionalized pedophilic 'conversion' policy as 'inclusion', which is a Woke euphemism for colonial penetration and hostile takeover of the reproductive center, using an unrepresentative swill of minoritarians as ideological pawns, to seize power in what amounts to a coup......

The writer of this exquisite little essay in moral remonstrance took not just a little literary skill, but even more courage. Bless her heart for being a courageous soldier in the cultural wilderness that enables such outrages to happen with so little protest, against an enemy whose invasion must be repelled with the same urgency as the Russian one on Ukraine.

I have read the story of Jazz Jennings, and watched several videos about how this person is today. It's tragic. To use this person as a positive role model, to introduce this type of "transition" as a positive thing to elementary school students is criminal. At my local community centre, there is a "youth board" Seven out of ten posters there are for different LGBT plus and transgender groups for youth. There's nothing posted for boys and girls groups at all. Transgender as an option should never never be taught to kids in public school at least until they are sixteen, if at all. Kids in Grade Four have not yet figured out basic arithmetic. When I was that age I was playing with toy cars and just learning how to ice skate. We were kids then. We'll look back on this indoctrination in ten or fifteen years with horror.
