James this is first class. Agree with it on all levels. I am interested in your thoughts in a future essay on what individuals can do about this.

One idea I have, which I am developing, is to work re-popularize the notion that gratitude is the attitude to adopt for long term individual success. Twenty years ago (doesn't seem THAT long ago) a move called The Secret went viral, it basically explained The Law of Attraction to the masses. It was quite popular for awhile. If more people could be shown that adopting a victim mindset is counter productive to their success and happiness, and gratitude is, maybe we could shift the culture, slowly?

Thanks Steven. I think there are a few things that can be done to solve the problem. I will be writing an essay to expand on what I think it will take. But gratitude, like you mentioned, is absolutely key. We are lost if we aren't grateful for Western invention and prosperity. Also, I think a strong grasp of history - especially the consequential history of the last 600 years (including the story of International Communism), mixed with a strong philosophical grasp and adherence to liberal principles.

Cool, I will look forward to reading it. You are doing important work, so is James Lindsay, and more people are becoming attuned to the problem all the time. Certainly in Canada today (and its happened very quickly) the 'intellectual' class almost now seems to actively work to demoralize the general population. You cant move without seeing some active criticism of Canada in the press, our history and even our current state. The media and education class are now chronic whiners. It eventually IS going to demoralize people. My greatest personal concern is the growing resentment individuals are harboring , because they are being taught to. As a 'white male in his 50s' - the apparent archetypal bad guy, I don't personally care, and and I am not personally worried about my safety (or that its unfair) [I can take insults all day], I am just worried about people's resentment, for their own sake. Their own success and happiness is at great risk, and that bodes ill for society more broadly.

Anti-West. Always the woke left theme.

And Western civilization is a gem beyond price.

I personally think that equating Woke with Communism is an overly generous appraisal to the former and a slander to the later. Karl Marx was a distinguished academic with a doctorate in Philosophy who is remembered, primarily, as revolutionary socialist who developed a theory to address the inequalities of the working class of the time. It is sometimes easy to forget that he also had a distinquished curriculum vitae as an economist, historian, sociologist and journalist. What he wasn't was a Woke bobblehead nodding in agreement to every witless ideology presented by the vacuous herd. For me, Woke is simply a symptom of mental defect arising from the post pandemic menticide. Like all things in life, what comes around goes around, or at least, lets hope so.

You are forgetting to mention he was a poor poet and almost for certain a Satanist. He hung with the Satanist crowd in London. His poetry had Satanic imagery. He prayed to ‘the Dark Lord’ to give him a ‘weapon to destroy the world’. He also lived reasonably well while he let his children starve.
