That “African Ancestral Acknowledgement” is just plain bizarre. So any failing/misbehaviour by any Black student is because of slavery...talk about disempowering people! Black youth are treated as helpless, and White youth are denounced as racist. The people that implement and profit by this are crass exploiters.

Black victimhood won’t help black students, as Igor brilliantly argues. Demented woke leaders are ruining public schools by making them into laboratories for communism and division and resentment. Great article, great comments above.

If Ontario's School Boards are engaged in a "most sycophantic" awards competition I would have to say that Peel and Halton are neck to neck. It is quite possible that the slave recognition acknowledgement may well tip the scales in the most outrageous category over Halton's prosthetic breasts entry, but it is still early in the race. We certainly have come a long way from the 3 R's but perhaps somewhere along the road of life, we have made the wrong turn.

So much is outrageous about this, where to start? How do they determine race anyway? Self ID? Or are they going to have dna tests and racial categories for national id's and passports like India does with caste? Maybe a yellow star or a scarlet letter? The woke learn nothing from history. France doesn't allow racial categorizing, which seems more and more like the right idea. Thank you for carrying the torch of democracy!

I never imagined that a Progressive Conservative government would be so cravenly beholden to the woke mob currently infesting many of our boards. The very policies designed to push black students forward are actually impeding their progress and ensuring that they will be completely unprepared for the world of work. In our society, it's culture, not race that makes all the difference and teaching students the culture of learning is vital. Instead they are learning that victimhood reaps rewards. Rather than encouraging a meritocracy, and high expectations, we condone lower academic and behavioural standards based on skin colour. As a result, many non-black students will become demoralized and cease trying.

Private schools must be booming.

Lupita Nyong'o, one of the stars of a film about the anti-colonial struggle of the female warriors of Benin (Dahomey) called 'The Woman King', went on a much publicized TV documentary 'pilgrimage' to Benin (which I actually watched to get the inconvenient truths it revealed, that you will no longer find anywhere on the internet) to get in touch with her Amazon roots. She indeed found that aside from the fact that the 'Mino' soldiers were ruthlessly trained and merciless killers, they were also up to their necks in not only external territorial raids to round up slaves for their monarch, but locals as well. The somewhat disillusioned Ms Nyong'o then gets taken to a recently erected beach side memorial to a local slave trade that had been organized by the absolute despot ancestors of the local traditional ruler she had only just been slavishly groveling in front of earlier in the program.....
