Obaid Omer offers rich details of odd marriage between Progressives and Islamists. One example: “In 2018, when a girl made up a story of an Asian man stealing her hijab, Trudeau was on the scene right away and condemned the action.”

Both Progressives and Islamists like to cancel dissidents. The latter is only a little more, let’s say, explosive.

This is quite good. Thank you! I have been very concerned with Leftist support for terror and ordered the book United in Hate by Jamie Glazov, to understand it more. This article provides an excellent overview.

VICTIMHOOD

It is scary to realize that the same administration that “protects” your fellow students from every perceived slight and insult will side with them against you as they literally call for your annihilation. It can be deeply isolating to open social media and see post after post calling your people the perpetrators of the exact forms of murderous violence that was done to them not three weeks earlier. And it is maddening to watch those who hate us and wish violence upon us fashion themselves as victims—even as heroes.

The IDF assumed that not all reservists called up would report for duty—reservists have jobs and families, often with young children, and many are often living or traveling overseas. But in some units, about 120 percent of the reservists showed up, meaning many who came were not even called.

They came so fast, and in such numbers, that the military did not have enough food and or equipment for them. The soldiers started texting their families asking for supplies, including everything from phone chargers and socks to high-quality helmets, tourniquets, and bulletproof ceramic vests. Civilian blood drives and relief efforts were so swamped with volunteers they had to scramble to match them with the tremendous needs to be filled.

I find it misleading and offensive to suggest that any intellectually mature adult would express support for the October 7th terrorist attack committed by Hamas against Israel in which over 1300 Israeli citizens were massacred. Equally misleading is the suggestion that the affinity for Islam has been on display since 9/11. If I remember correctly, it was Islamic terrorists who were held responsible for 9/11 resulting in the invasion of and lengthy conflict with Iraq, an Islamic country. During this conflict, Israel supported the US during their war with Iraq. The vociferous anti Israel rhetoric which you reference is a response to the barbaric genocidal attacks against the Palestinian people for the actions of Hamas terrorists, which according to the U.N. and other humanitarian groups is "Collective Punishment", recognized as a breach of international law and a war crime. As for antisemitism, it has been around for over 2000 years going back to the time of the Romans in 410 when Augustine of Hippo wrote his book, the "City of God" with the accusation that Jews were, "Christ Killers", a concept that has been enshrined in the Christian faith every since. Perhaps, considering what the Palestine People are enduring today and have endured for over 75 years, it would not be unreasonable to extend to them a little compassion and understanding instead of vitriolic accusations. If one is really in need of a scapegoat an appropriate target might well be Balfour whose decision to create a Jewish state was very much influenced by the ancient prophecies of the Bible and its fulfillment involving the Jewish people.

Hamas has always targeted Israeli civilians, while the Israeli military makes every effort to avoid harming civilians. Hamas in its founding charter dedicates itself to entirely destroying Israel and killing all Israeli Jews, and all Jews around the world! Furthermore, Hamas is the most popular movement or party among Palestinians, according to Palestinian Center survey reports. Most Palestinians favor military attacks on Israel, and few want peace with Israel. Don't you get it? The Palestinian-Israel war is a religious war, in which Muslims wish to wipe out the Jews, and the Jews want to be left alone. Jews would like peace, but they have no peace partners among the Palestinians. Note that no Arab countries want Palestinians, because they always try to overthrow the existing government (as happened in Jordan and Lebanon).

"I find it misleadfing and offensive. to suggest that any intellectually mature adult would express support for the Oct. 7th terrorist attack."

Two examples:“ 1. How beautiful is the spirit to get free that Palestinians literally learned how to fly on hang gliders” - Harsha Walia, former director of the BC Civil Liberties Association

2. Natalie Knight, a Langara College instructor is now on leave after she described Hamas’ attack on Israel as “amazing” and “brilliant.”

My question is, what would you have Israel do after 1400 of its citizens were massacred by Hamas soldiers? 260 of those at a music festival for peace. Thousands of rockets were fired, causing fatalities and extensive damage. Hamas has over 20 thousand soldiers, many operating in tunnels beneath civilian structures ,and has said it will keep attacking, in fact, the rockets are still firing towards Israel.

I mean, I am thinking myself it is a horrendous response, from what we are hearing, however, the Israeli government has said that if Hamas releases the terrorists, it will stop bombing. That would be grounds for a ceasefire.

Fine article. I would add a historical note: It was the feminists who introduced the Marxist idea of society being based on oppressor and victim classes. Of course, with the feminists' females vs. the patriarchy began the shift from orthodox Marxist economic class conflict, capitalists vs. proletariat, to neo-Marxist identity politics, soon to be followed by black vs. white and gay vs. straight, and now, imaginatively, trans vs biology. Note that none of this is about equality; it is about flipping the hierarchy and giving supremacy to those of preferred identities, disregarding any consideration of merit.
