Unions seek to "demoralize" parents

Things are heating up for this Wednesday's parent protests happening across the country

A recording has leaked of a Friday September 16th joint union meeting of the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), in which union members are heard discussing plans to “demoralize,” among other things, parents who will be participating in one of over ninety protest marches against the sexual indoctrination of kids being planned across the country for this Wednesday September 20th. 

Similar to key dates last school year when parents opted to keep their kids home from school to protest the age-inappropriate sexualization of children, the September 20th protest actions currently being organized across the country are for the most part de-centralized and organic. However, one key organizer, the 1 Million March 4 Children, lists all march locations across the country on their website.

In the FAQ section of the 1 Million March 4 Children website, the question is asked and answered:

“ Is this anti-2SLGBTQIA+?

By no means. We deeply value the rich spectrum of perspectives within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. If you share our belief that discussions on gender ideology should be approached at age-appropriate times, we wholeheartedly invite you to stand alongside us and amplify this message.”

This is the gist of all the troubles. It's not about transphobia or homophobia, it's about teaching/discussing sexual topics with children at the appropriate age and maturity level. The sexualization of the school environment, whether through Drag Queen Story Hour, outside consultants giving workshops on gender, surveys that ask kids their sexual orientation or gender identity, washroom/change room policies that place boys next to girls, or the inclusion of sexualized age-inappropriate books in school libraries, parents feel things have gone way too far. Especially when you consider that school policies have been implemented that permit teachers and school administrators to keep secrets concerning these issues, between them and students, from the parents!

Not acceptable. It’s never acceptable to keep any information about children from parents. Full stop.

That parents have decided to unite and push back against what they see as harmful and confusing school policies concerning sex and gender should come as no surprise. What is surprising is the stance and attitude taken by union administrators/members who see parents that prefer their children not be sexualized by Drag Queens or graphic novels in school libraries depicting deviant sex acts, as “far-right fascists.”

Independent journalist, Rukhsana Sukhan, has provided a written transcript of part of the joint union meeting here.  Another journalist, Odessa Orlewicz, uploaded video of the meeting to X, and described its contents as follows:

“I have just been given a super private/secret recording of a joint union meeting held Sept 16, 2023 to organize strategic attacks & counter-protests against those parents, grandparents & other concerned Canadians participating in the Million March protesting the SOGI sex activist takeover of our schools.   Disrupt, demoralize, destroy, bully, intimidate... is the key message throughout the meeting. I am trying to find out legal implications in releasing it. There are leakers secretly on our side in this meeting.”

The response to the leaked union meeting video on social media was forceful and immediate, here is a great take on X by one of my favorite commentators, journalist, Mia Ashton:

“So let me see if I've got this right: 

Concerned parents who object to teachers filling their children's heads with dangerous lies at school, lies that lead some vulnerable young people down a path to having healthy body parts chopped off, are labeled ‘ultra conservative’ bigoted far-right extremists. Meanwhile, unions are coming together to disrupt the parent protests, put ‘some fright’ into us, demoralize us, all while calling us hateful fascists. Oh, and they'll have some people on the ground to take photographs of our license plates, because that's definitely something the good guys would do.” 

Have I missed anything?”

And then later in the thread of comments Mia remarked:

“My favourite part was when one woman said "they're easily demoralized." She has no idea who she is up against!!”

Indeed. My own x post was biting and direct:

“The Ontario Federation of Labour wants to "demoralize" parents planning to exercise their democratic rights by peacefully assembling to voice their concerns. Why do they hate democracy? Because if we voted on drugging & performing unnecessary surgeries on kids they would lose.”

The meeting of radicals

Addressing the members over Zoom, and setting the tone for the meeting, OFL President Patti Coates, cautioned the following: 

“...there's a number of protest events that are taking place all across Canada. We can't just let this be idle. We need to be able to organize. We need to connect with our communities in Ontario. From what I know, there's approximately 22 different events that are taking place and there could be more now. But as allies and those that protect workers' rights, protect our kids' rights and the rights of trans and our 2SLGBTQ plus community, we felt it very important that we do come together to fight against the rise of hate and we're seeing it in province across province.”

The one thing you can always count on from the political Left is claims that those who hold different ideas, disagreement, or who challenge any aspect of esoteric Leftist social theory, must be full of hate and bent on causing harm. Further, they assert that it is up to them, the self-anointed saviours of the moral Left, to oppose the “fascist bigots” and the evil right-wing reactionary forces of the non-elect: the working class, the conservatives, the religious, and the parents.

But as Mia Ashton articulated in her X post, parents are concerned about schools imparting to students “dangerous lies that lead some vulnerable young people down a path to having healthy body parts chopped off.” Even before these vulnerable children reach the point of undergoing irreversible surgeries there is a long process where they undergo experimental drug regimens, taking puberty blockers and cross sex hormones. And before they are prescribed dangerous pharmaceuticals, they “socially transition” as a result of the influence of gender and queer theory which is spread throughout their school and society by Trans Rights and LGBTQ activists.

Governments all over the developed world are pausing and shutting down gender clinics and the practice of “affirmative care” for youth. Indeed, children's rights advocates balk when the word “care” is used to describe something that sterilizes and ruins the sexual function of healthy children and adolescents, and the majority of Canadian parents agree with them. The parent groups organizing protest events are not the enemy, they are not bigots, transphobes, fascists, or reactionary far-right extremists. They represent the majority of Canadian parents and concerned citizens and are uniting with the common purpose of protecting children from ideas and practices that lead to harm.

Parents, for the most part, are on the same page. Their challenge will be to prove wrong, union member “Carolyn,” who expressed the following sentiment during the joint union meeting:

 “They (parents) can easily be demoralized. Their confidence can be just ripped out from under them.”

Well…let’s just see about that, shall we?

Another union member, “Anthony,” a school board employee, told the group that he has three kids that identify as trans. He also claimed that there are “systemic problems” in the school boards “with respect to trans.” And explained that they had people who were willing to take pictures of license plates of the parents involved in any parent protest marches.

What a piece of work. First off, someone should call child services. It is not possible that Anthony has three kids that identify as trans. Because that would mean that all three would be gender non-conforming or have gender dysphoria, conditions that afflict an exceeding small portion of the population. It is virtually a statistical impossibility that this man has three gender dysphoric children. This person is a failed parent. Affirming the social contagion that has gripped his three children seems like a clear case of psychological abuse. But as someone who isn’t a terrible parent, I can’t say with any measure of accuracy what Anthony's true intentions are, I only know that in any case, they are evil.

I’ll leave off with a mention of a well organized parents group called Parents Rights Coalition of Canada (see video below) who has published a statement of principles. Please ask yourself, after reading through the principles,  are the parents behind this movement really fascist bigots? In my view, it is not possible to honestly conclude that we are.
