Will Canadians stand with Josh Alexander?
Will non-Christian Canadians support a Christian kid's protest over radical gender ideology?

“Our education system has been corrupted and overrun, and it’s time we do something about it.” - Josh Alexander
At some point it was bound to happen. In many ways it is shocking it took so long. This is Canada and we don’t often get riled up over political issues - a notable exception being the Trucker Convoy which brought a Freedom Protest to Ottawa last winter and inspired the world. In Canadian education however, there has not been the same level of organized outrage over the encroachment of Gender Ideology and Critical Race Theory into the culture of K-12 schools, that we’ve seen explode south of the border.
This has led critics of wokeism to wonder at what point will enough Canadians rally around a person, message or movement and proclaim with a united voice that things have gone too far?
Could it be that such a moment has arrived?
Josh Alexander is a 16 year old Catholic school student who was suspended then officially excluded from school. Bullied by other students - told to go “kill himself,” arrested by the police for trying to return to class - effectively ostracized. The same woke movement that inspires bullies across Canadian cancel culture is ultimately responsible for this travesty.
Up to this point, there have been several notable Canadians who have taken a stand and are engaging publicly in the fight for the basic rights to speech, religious and academic freedom. Josh now joins the ranks of out-spoken anti-woke Canadians like canceled high school teacher, Chanel Pfahl, fired Mount Royal University professor, Frances Widdowson, and the internationally celebrated public intellectual, Jordan Peterson.
What thought crime did Josh Alexander commit at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Renfrew, Ontario? Expressing his Christian belief that there are only two genders, and further stating that people who are born male should use male washrooms only. A concern shared by the majority of Canadians, yet of all places, it is deemed unacceptable in a Catholic high school. How is this possible!?
Simply put, the woke movement is out of control.
The racial reckoning of 2020, which saw the social justice phenomenon kick into overdrive, seems now more like a bus with a broken accelerator pedal - with its throttle stuck wide open. As the velocity of this woke bus continues to increase, it rapidly loses control. As it stands, the bus has reached the point where it is impossible to navigate, and where it might end up, is impossible to predict. However, it continues to try desperately to avoid the speed bumps and road blocks erected by concerned citizens who have decided it’s time to put the brakes on the social justice movement.
Even though there has been slow and steady movement concerning the counter-woke pushback, there is a lot of open road and the woke bus has an enormous head start. The checkpoints setup so far are too few in number. And from high school students - who are exposed to woke indoctrination constantly - we have heard very little. That is until Josh Alexander and his friends felt a line had been crossed and it was time to take a stand.
The legacy media is nowhere to be found. clearly they are terrified of this story and hope Josh just goes away. Exceptions include the Toronto Sun. And there was also a good op-ed published in the National Post by Michael Higgins.
In the video below Clyde Do Something makes the point that by suspending Josh, St. Joseph’s, has given him the free time to organize and protest. That is exactly what he is doing. Follow his Facebook page and support Josh in his activism.
In an interview with Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington, Josh spoke about what it would take for the school to allow him back. “I would have to basically agree to a multitude of conditions that are contrary to my religious beliefs.” Those conditions include a prohibition on interacting with, or being in the same class with the school’s few trans students. This is essentially a requirement for Josh to tacitly agree that his presence on school grounds is somehow a danger to Trans students. Leading him to the reasonable conclusion that “there is not really a way for me to go back.”
“My goal isn’t to preach hate at anyone, I’m just a student who wants to go to school, but I’m not going to compromise my religious beliefs. My issue is not with the individual trans students, in fact I have some sympathy for them. My issue is with the education system that pushes it and indoctrinates impressionable minds.” - Josh Alexander
While the Z-Cup Bandit , a teacher who wears outrageously oversized prosthetic breasts, from the Halton school board, has returned to class, Josh Alexander is not allowed. Twitter noticed, below is a viral meme that illustrates the absurdity.
“The Catholic School Board has utterly failed to vet its teachers…if they are by name Catholic they are by action atheist.” - Michael Thiessen, Liberty Coalition Canada
For a deeper dive into the situation, including an examination of the religious implications of a woke Catholic school board, watch this great interview by Michael Thiessen from the Liberty Coalition Canada (LCC) of Josh and his lawyer, James Kitchen.
And here is a LCC petition you can sign to support Josh. From the description:
Josh was excluded from attending his Catholic High School because, during class debates and on social media, he expressed his Christian beliefs that there are only two genders, that students cannot switch between genders, and that boys should not be permitted into the girls’ bathroom. Josh was suspended after trying to organize a student walk-out because the school refused to address the safety concerns of a female student.
And below is the message Josh posted yesterday to his Facebook page yesterday:
"We are young Canadians who have taken up the responsibility of igniting the Canadian youth by awakening them to the corrupt agenda being forced upon them.
We stand against this indoctrination, we stand against the attack on our faith, and we stand against the abolishment of our liberties. The majority of the population kneels to the corrupt system, but not us.
We kneel before God, and before Him alone.
We will never bow to social pressure, we will not break to the threats of the woke mob. We are engaging in legal, political, spiritual, and ideological battles against the evil forces that be.
Our objective is to give all youth who are willing to make a stand the connections, platform, and support that they require. We are a call to action, a rallying point for Christian youth. The torch has been passed to us, it is our duty and obligation to make a stand for what is right.
If Christians don’t respond right now, it will be too late."
Save Canada
I think it is clear that Josh Alexander is on the right side of history, and St. Joseph’s Catholic School is on the wrong side. My concern is weather non-Christian Canadians, many of whom often casually demonstrate an anti-Christian bias, will get behind a Christian kid fighting for his speech and religious freedoms. To them I would just like to point out that Josh is not fighting for some kind of Fascist Christian Nationalism or any kind of far-right movement. What he is fighting for is consistent with the liberal values and concerns of the majority of Canadians who do not want males in women’s washrooms, children at Drag shows, or young students indoctrinated with anti-scientific gender ideology.

Excellent piece. Josh is an amazing and courageous young man, a hero for our times. I signed the petition. I'm not the best example as I am a Christian, but all of us who see this for what it is need to support Josh in whatever way we can. I too hope this includes non-Christians who care about civil liberties.
#saveCanada I am thrilled to watch Josh taking a stand! Thank God for young people like him and may they all rise up together & show what a sound mind is!
