Finally, the Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, is proposing changes to the Education Act to focus on basic skills and, in Mr. Lecce's own words, "strengthening the voices of parents." However, the Minister of Education needs to demonstrate strength, be forthright, and call things as they are. The radical far-left has taken over our education system. Schools are promoting victimhood, over-sexualizing education, emphasizing our differences, dividing people based on immutable characteristics, and prioritizing hiring and promotions based on race, gender, etc., rather than on competency and character. Historical self-hate has replaced gratitude and pride for this great nation's past. Teachers are instructed to deceive parents, inflate grades, and expected to reduce the curriculum. Discipline and structure have been disregarded, allowing for anything to go. There is a direct attack on excellence. Parents, staff, and trustees are censored, warned, and labelled, among other things. The Minister is undoubtedly aware of all these issues as he should be; therefore, there is no point in sugarcoating anything.
By simply transferring power from the school boards to the Ministry, the government is taking a significant risk of exacerbating the current situation, especially if ideologically driven political parties were to come into power in the future, which is a possibility. Additionally, the proposed changes to the Education Act lack explicit statements prioritizing parental rights in the choice of education for children and fail to assert the right of parents and trustees to speak at school board meetings. It is worth noting that Canada is a signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which in Article 26 specifically states, "Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children."
Furthermore, there has been a concerning trend among several Ontario school boards, where they have shown a tendency to disregard parents' questions and silence school trustees who have tried to advocate for their constituents during school board meetings. Moreover, I found the Minister's interview with TVO's Steven Paikin, which aired on May 9, 2023, unconvincing. I reiterate that this province urgently needs the Ontario government to take a strong and clear stance in combating the indoctrination of our future generation.
Without the Minister's direct and explicit consideration of these issues, the future of this province appears bleak, and that is an understatement! It is disconcerting to witness these circumstances unfold, especially considering the presence of a Conservative majority government and the Minister's direct oversight.
Minister Lecce, take the lead Sir, shoulder the burden of the responsibility you are tasked with, and weather the storm!
What else are we paying you for?

Lets be optimistic. Its a start. I think a syllabus that includes basic biology emphasizing gender identity so children can understand the differences between boys and girls and appreciate that it isn't a personal decision but one intended to propagate the species would be very helpful. Second, elementary history to understand who we are, how we came to be and how government is supposed to operate. In addition, emphasis on the 3 Rs so they can become functionally literate adults and not, as Singer Don McLean wrote in his 1971 song, American Pie, "a generation lost in space".
It's disgusting that some teachers and school boards have decided they have more control over the lives of children than their own parents. It's definitely a sign of authoritarianism taking over Public Schools. I'm glad some parents are finally beginning to stand up and fight back.
