Canada's police are not helping
Does keeping the peace mean only protecting progressives and the awful activists they stand with?

I’m insanely lucky to be part of the informal Indian Residential School research group that never takes a day off from analyzing Canadian Indigenous politics and the postmodern/critical theory moment that has sown confusion, generated ahistoricism, and will surely set back the development of Indigenous people and communities by decades, if not generations. What my colleagues in this group know, is that the real injustice concerning Canada’s indigenous people is not an artefact of the past, and has nothing to do with Indian Residential Schools. The real injustice occurs in the present, and can be seen in the hundreds of isolated and dependent remote indigenous reserves scattered across the country. These are the sites of grossly disproportionate Canadian social depravation and suffering.
An added benefit of my ongoing daily correspondence with the academics, researchers, journalists, and public figures in the IRS group is the extra discussion an analysis offered by members concerning adjacent or loosely related issues. What is happening with the media and/or the police in this country are big ones. After all, IRS group members Tom Flanagan and Chris Champion, in association with True North, just published an edited volume critical of the false unmarked graves and IRS narratives that have been disseminated by an inadequate and politically captured woke media. In addition, a big part of the concern over the unmarked graves story was the RCMP’s failure to conduct a forensic investigation. Most of the chapters were written by members of our IRS research group (I wrote chapter 7). You can purchase our book, Grave Error, on Amazon.
Yesterday, a video of Rebel News reporter David Menzies went viral. David is seen approaching Chrystia Freeland on the street. He asks her a question and points a microphone in her direction in anticipation of her response, which of course, doesn’t come. Trudeau’s elite minions have no respect for independent media. They routinely refuse to answer questions from Rebel News reporters (which is shocking for a so called liberal democratic country). Approached on the street by any Canadian, these elite leaders owe them an answer. David Menzies is not just a reporter, he is a citizen and a tax payer - he deserves a basic level of respect and consideration.
One of the IRS writers, prolific Canadian editorialist, Brian Giesbrecht, wrote up a fast response to the “Menzies affair,” which was published this morning in the Western Standard. From that piece:
“…on Monday, January 8, 2024, Rebel News reporter David Menzies was thuggishly assaulted, handcuffed and shoved into a police cruiser by police officers, in a scene that is usually reserved for the worst autocracies on this planet.”
And also:
“This has nothing to do with Liberals or Conservatives.
What we are seeing in real time is what life in an autocracy or theocracy looks like. A scene like this in downtown Moscow or Tehran would probably not be uncommon.
But to see it playing out in plain sight in Canada is truly frightening.
And deeply wrong.”
Here is the video on X of David Menzies arrest for “scrumming” with Freeland as she walked down the street, rudely ignoring him.
The police seem to be getting an awful lot wrong these days. And it’s happening across the country. In Toronto, we’ve had pro-Palestinian supporters protesting in Jewish neighborhoods week after week. A Jewish deli was subjected to arson. This targeting of Jewish businesses and communities by protestors upset with the conflict in Israel is understood by informed observers to be blatant acts of antisemitism. Yet, the police were caught on video bringing coffee to the pro-Palestinian protesters while they were engaged in their antisemitic protest.
All of this has led myself and some in our group to feel a little uneasy about an event coming up on January 18th at the University of Alberta. Our colleague Professor Frances Widdowson is slated to speak. The Indigenous Graduates Students Association is already preparing to disrupt the event (and most likely, shout it down). Below is a image of an email sent to “Indigenous colleagues and Co-Conspirators” :
Frances can totally handles herself. She is no stranger to this type of thing. Woke Watch Canada readers may remember my coverage of her contentious appearance last year at Lethbridge University. No one was hurt. A scheduled public talk was disrupted and ultimately cancelled by hysterical activists. However, things seem to be escalating everywhere. The divide between Social Justice activists and regular people couldn’t be more insurmountable. We are at a critical juncture. I am concerned about the safety of my friend Frances Widdowson this January 18th at the U of A event.
I am asking Woke Watch Canada readers to send an email (or phone them directly) to the administration at the University of Alberta to request that appropriate security measure be taken to ensure the safety of Professor Widdowson. Here are the relevant people to contact, please CC Frances Widdowson ( widdowsonfrances@gmail.com ) and Kathleen Lowry ( kathleen.lowrey@ualberta.ca ) :

Thank you, James Pew, for making it easy for us to write to the University of Alberta's woke morality squad as to why highly educated and published Frances Widdowson should be able to speak to students in an institution that was once devoted to debate and divergent views.
We need to return to a time of moral clarity, when we teach and share ideas that are based on right/wrong and truth. Politicians, and many organizations and institutions we rely on, are busy appeasing and pandering to whatever is the current 'narrative du jour' thus creating more and more social fragmentation. This creates confusion among the masses, supports mob mentality, and the social acceptance of Othering others. I read a story, about Holocaust museums, who are afraid to denounce Oct. 7, yet spend time (and money) virtue signalling the popular guilt narrative of so called Indigenous genocide. This fear to do the right thing, needs to be overcome. The woke left clearly isn't doing that!
