Gender Activists and Normies Schedule June Face Off in Ottawa & There Ain't Enough Room in Town for Both
A Weekly Report on the Canadian Gender Wars - April 28, 2023 Vol 13
I’ve noticed something remarkable in the Canadian Gender Wars this week and I believe we’re at a turning point. I write this summary piece every week for people who are not on Twitter or major social media platforms and today I’m going share a Twitter geek’s lesson about how we loosely gauge a shift in public opinion online.
I’m going to talk about “Ratios,” an informal Twitter metric used to measure how popular a sentiment is, and this week, transgenderism and the Rainbow Jackboots are getting ratio’d hard in major stories in the Canadian Gender Wars:
The first story is that Billboard Chris and Josh Alexander (the Renfrew Catholic HS student expelled for saying God created man and woman) have announced they are coming to Ottawa on June 9th to attendant threats by the rainbow jackboots; the second story is a small Ontario town passed a policy that they will only hoist official National, Provincial and Municipal flags on town property, and only use banners that promote local business.
First off, meet blowhard Sam Hersh, founder of “Horizon Ottawa,” a progressive woke organization of bullies who targets enemies for online mobbing, cancellation attacks and even violent intimidation by his legions of Rainbow Jackboots. He led the failed attempt to cancel Jordan Peterson in Ottawa a few months ago and believes people who disagree with him need to be silenced. Sam is an authoritarian, with ties to the discredited Canadian Anti-Hate Network, who professes knowledge on issues from housing construction, to truckers, to private business decisions.
Sam knows where to draw the line most of the time, so he keeps his hands somewhat clean, but has helped round up violent and destructive mobs on more than one occasion, most recently the “Protect Trans Kids” OCDSB school rally on March 28th where at least four people were assaulted.
Below, he’s responding to the announcement that Chris Elston, is coming back to Ottawa. Elston is returning to the scene of another violent mobbing that Hersh helped whip up in Oct 2021, when I first met Billboard Chris and Chanel Pfahl, where we faced down an estimated 300 protestors led by progressive politicians.
Even a few months ago, Sam would have had hundreds of his followers lathering themselves into a froth in the comments, self-congratulating about their enlightenment and benevolence. This week the response to Sam was so overwhelmingly critical he had to disable the comments in what is equivalent to the digital act of putting his hands over his ears.
I’m a math guy and thanks to Elon Musk, we can now see how many views a tweet gets. The tweet above shows 119.8k views as of the time I clipped the image. Yet only 105 likes. That’s a “Like Ratio” of less than 1 in 1,000 views.
Generally, under the old Twitter, a “Ratio!” was called when the comments outnumbered the likes. It meant that there were more angry critics of the tweet than people who supported it. In this case, there were over five-hundred comments and only one-hundred Likes before he disabled replies.
Next we have Hershey-Squirt Fae Johnstone, a male master (outrage) baiter with a degree in social work; a bullshit artist soaking the federal government, corporations and charity boards for status and money. We see the ratio immediately. Note here that Fae put up the tweet immediately limiting comments to his followers only, and one of the five comments on the post as of April 27th is him, responding to himself.
One of the remaining four comments is a usual suspect in Ottawa, school-board trustee and now defendant against regulatory complaints with the Ontario College of Physicians, as well as perennial flirt with a “Code of Conduct” discipline before the Ottawa school board. Notorious Nili, the hair-trigger histrionic, is always ready for a fight, hiding behind the anonymizing mask that gives her super-powers.
Yet another feature of Twitter for readers who are non-users (don’t feel left out, only about 5% of people use the platform) is the Quote Tweet, which allows users to re-post a tweet with their own comments. We go to Fae Johnstone’s call to arms again to see that 129 people had quote-tweeted. When I audited them, 17/20 of the first quotes were against him.
When I scrolled on, my straw math tells me that more than 90% of the re-posted tweets were damning including calls for him to be investigated by the college of social workers for inciting violence; calls to the Canadian Board of the YMCA to expel him as a board member for inciting a mob to violate the Charter Rights of Canadians and calls for Hershey’s Chocolates to drop his sponsorship. At least a half dozen suggested under new Twitter terms, this was incitement to violence.
Now that we have some twitter lingo, lets look at a couple other ratios this week showing the public sentiment has turned on trans activism. But before we do, I want to recognize the most significant contributor to this turn in public conversation as far as I can tell: Canadian educated, Queens Alumni, and jockey in the richest man in the world race, Elon Musk himself, who is openly calling for imprisonment of adults who facilitate the sexual mutilation and sterilization of children. I suspect he feels some compassion for the overwhelming numbers of kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder being transed by ideologues. He is an Aspie himself.
In other Elon Musk news he signaled a major shift last week, from when a Trans Activist was the head of content moderation just six months ago, eliminating rules against misgendering. Not long ago, rules against not using a person’s preferred pronouns, and against dead-naming them (meaning referring to a trans-identified person by their birth name) resulted in suspensions or even permanent bans. This was the reason Jordan Peterson was kicked off Twitter last summer when her referred to Canadian TiF “Ellen Page” instead of “Elliot.”
Lets go now to Norwich Ontario, whose municipal council passed a by-law this week that only official flags (National, Provincial or Municipal) will be flown on town property, ie on city flagpoles; and the only signage and banners the city will display are to promote the business association of their town. The town, in a bold move, also declined to endorse June as Pride Month and wails of discrimination ensued.
Comments on several news items about this reflected overwhelming public frustration, signalling the rainbow jackboots are wearing out their welcome.
Based on my own lived experience, my gay and lesbian friends from my Gen-X cohort are aghast at what the Pride movement has become and stay away from parades and flags while openly criticizing how raunchy and depraved it has become. Fetishists use “inclusion” demands to parade their gear in front of children, and pretty rainbow flags make it seem kind and nice and not like grooming at all.
Expect an Ontario Human Rights complaint to follow against Norwich. This user pointed out rightly that the City of London lost an OHRC complaint in 1995 for refusing to declare Pride Week, under “discrimination against providing services” and two fines of $5,000 were levied against City Councillors.
Be that as it may, this is about pubic opinion and ratios. Jordan Kent follows almost 5,000 people on Twitter and he has about 1,700 followers - which is a sad story all its own, but while he got a lot of eyeballs on his tweet this week, no-one likes his victim cries.
I can’t tell you how many followers he had on Monday, but his claims of oppression exposed to over 200,000 users, didn’t earn him a following. It appears however that the question of when is enough, enough has arisen in the little town on Norwich, and it’s getting positive traction with the public who has had enough of the boundary pushing, ever-expanding list of bespoke sexual identities.
An Ottawa Law Professor tried to argue with me that not allowing Pride Flags on municipal flagpoles was a violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I replied that saying a township MUST fly flags of a political organization seemed like compelled speech, not freedom of speech. His answer: “But I’m a law Professor!”
Julia Mallot gives us the ratio.
It’s clear that public patience has run out with the rainbow crowd. They are pushing boundaries too far in too many areas of our lives. From classrooms, to changerooms; from ever-expanding calendar days demanding special recognition, to the horrifying and ever-eroding standards for child sex-changes.
My wife reported an Instagram post by The Daily Show—A joke about “What is a Woman?” had over 2,000 comments, almost all signaling it’s time to flip the script on activists like Sam Hersh, and Fae Johnstone, and run the Gender Ideologues, along with sycophants like Nili Kaplan-Myrth of out town once and for all.

There is no question that the community of Norwich has shown leadership, commonsense and courage in a Province intoxicated by Woke Extremism. People are tired of the constant deluge of gender inclusivity being propagated by those in constant need of gender validation. Enough, is enough. It is time for the tail to stop wagging the dog!!

Shannon Douglas has remarkable insight into our culture war and offers signs of optimism, from a rejection of the pride flag by a town to the negative reaction to “rainbow jackboots” who seek to cancel unpopular opinion.
