By N. Invictus (an anonymous Canadian teacher)
During his memorial, friends of Richard Bilkszto made a promise to set up a scholarship and award in his name. On that chilly Oct 15/2024 at Mel Lastman’s Square this public announcement was made while friends and family of the beloved principal attended to celebrate his life and work.
Richard’s tragic passing last July stirred an uproar not only in Canada and the United States but also at a global level in different media outlets and in different languages. The DEI mandates became and continue to be under scrutiny not only by some institutions and organisations but most importantly by the general public who are gradually but finally waking up. Even in his passing and after that he continues to enlighten and educate people. Richard paid the price for this with his life!
They say time heals the wounds of the heart and the soul; I say time helps us learn to live with these wounds, as a pierced heart will never return to its original shape. Six months have passed, and every time I remember Richard or see his picture, a chilling feeling sweeps through my body and makes me shiver. I have not learned to live with this wound yet, and I do not think I ever will unless what Richard stood for manifests itself in our society. Until my vision for the Canada I came for is restored, the promise of freedom becomes a reality and there is no berating speech police.
On February 1, 2024, the media release from the Friends of Richard Bilkszto, now a registered Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporation, serves as evidence that his friends meant business. While nothing can replace the life lost, we can and should move forward in the direction of protecting and improving Canada's education, and consequently, the future of our great nation, before it is too late. The disappointment and loss of hope resulting from our dire situation are not lost on me and I am not naively optimistic that the course of destruction that started decades ago will fully reverse in my lifetime. This is all the more reason to keep pushing back and speaking up against any tyranny. There is no time to rest, take a break, or even blink.
The weed takes over the garden with unbelievable speed, and their roots have been spreading and sucking the life out of our maple trees. However, there is still hope. As we raise the Canadian flag at our homes and in our hearts, we are not the dead, we are not the blind (metaphorically), and we are not the minority. As long as our hearts beat, we need to stand on guard for thee,
“ where pines and maples grow, Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.”
Please donate to the Richard Bilkszto Scholarship and Award and spread the word as wide as you can. May his name and legacy never be forgotten.
Amen.

Nice. This was a genuine tragedy, I suspect that those who need most to learn from it, are ignoring it. Critical Theory based DEI is social poison.
What a beautiful tribute to a man who stood against the maddening crowd: “Every time I remember Richard or see his picture, a chilling feeling sweeps through my body and makes me shiver.”
