The Double Standard that Protects Muslim Feelings

Our media, elites, and leadership class are acting like a bunch of trained seals again. A sacred identity group has been offended, so the predictable calls for investigations and condemnations of hate speech have followed. 

For month’s, Toronto’s Jewish community has been terrorized by Pro-Hamas gangs. There has been an encampment at the University of Toronto which has prevented Jewish students and professors from entering the school. A Jewish girls school in Toronto was shot at by masked Hamas supporters. There was an insane antisemitic hate march outside of a Synagogue in Thornhill - for over 8 hours gangs of Hamas supporters shouted antisemitic slogans throughout Jewish neighbourhoods. All of this, merely the tip of the iceberg.

And now, Toronto police say their hate crime unit is investigating after a truck displaying what they described as Islamophobic messaging was seen in the city. The double standard is infuriating. Elites have hummed and hawed for months over whether the proper context for antisemitism has or is occurring at the many ongoing pro-Hamas civic disruptions and encampments. They have negotiated with the ignorant antisemitic terrorist supporters at the U of T, awarding an air of credibility to the thoroughly discreditable. Police have even brought coffee to Pro-Hamas supporters blocking the entrance to a Jewish neighbourhood. But if any disagreeable Jews dare stand up for themselves and their communities, the useful idiot elites, some of them full-on antisemites, are ready and waiting with their Islamophobia pointing fingers.

One such disagreeable Jew, the eternally awesome Ezra Levant from Rebel News, has claimed ownership of what he refers to as the “Billboard Truck.” The messages displayed on the truck were created by a third party group called “Canadians Opposed to the Occupation of our Streets and Campuses.” Levant would not divulge the identity of anyone behind the group, and he is determined to keep the truck on the road. He is adamant that no laws have been broken, and that the messages displayed are consistent with Canada’s charter rights concerning free speech.

To be clear, nothing in the messages displayed on the truck's digital screens is hateful, or could be considered incitement to violence. This is a clear cut case of a so-called “equity-deserving” group, like Muslims, having their feelings protected at all costs, including denouncements as hate speech, of anything that criticizes them.

The hate crime Ezra Levant is being investigated for carries a maximum two year prison sentence. From Levant’s Rebel Report: “In Trudeau’s Canada, you’re allowed to support terrorism; you’re not allowed to criticize terrorism. That sounds more like 1984, than 2024.” 

The billboard truck shows images of hundreds of Muslims praying in the street. It asks, is this Syria? Is this Yemen? Etc. And then informs us that the images are from Canada and that we should wake up because we are under siege. Elites like former Mayor John Tory, now back in the media, virtue signaled grotesquely on a morning AM radio segment, denouncing Levant for Islamophobia. No attempt was made by Tory what-so-ever to try and understand why a group such as Canadians Opposed to the Occupation of our Streets and Campuses might want to send a message like this. To people like Tory, Islam is just like all the other religions, and anyone who says anything critical otherwise, is Islamophobic. Current Mayor, Olivia Chow, who is not exactly known for her support of the Jewish community, rushed to condemn the Islamophobic billboard truck as hastily as Tory did. 

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: We have terrible leaders in Canada. We have had generations of terrible leaders. Their terribleness is now thoroughly entrenched. What we desperately need - I can think of no better metaphor than the Trumpian one about swamp draining. Even the leadership at Toronto Police Service appears to suffer from the same woke mind virus that causes Tory and Chow to be such insufferable fools. From Levant’s Rebel Report: “Police should be embarrassed that they are investigating the messenger, instead of understanding the message.” So should all the media and leadership class who are calling for prosecution against those bold enough to criticize the specially protected and therefore essentially sacred, Muslim population.
