Zooming and Grooming at the PDSB

Shhhhhhhh, don't tell the parents!

A few days ago the Peel District School Board (PDSB) posted to X that students in grade 6 to 8 are invited to attend Zoom meetings over the lunch hour every Thursday in November to discuss sexual reassignment - a highly controversial issue that most parents feel children in grades 6 to 8 are too young to be exposed to, especially in such abundance (considering the LGBTQ flag and adjacent ideologies seem to be an inescapable presence with an ever-increasing grip on Canadian Education).

However, after independent journalist, Chanel Pfahl, posted about the lunchtime zoom sessions on X, the PDSB’s post mysteriously disappeared, and a Vice Principal started attacking Chanel.

If it was such a good initiative, then why on earth would they delete it once parents know about it? Seems weird doesn’t it?

I searched the PDSB website for “Gen express.” Here is what I got back:

Without even clicking through to any of these search results we can already see we are dealing with a situation where students are permitted to “self-refer” into the “identity specific offerings” including “Gen Express.”

It also appears that Gen Express has a December offering for middle schoolers. This time though, it will be after school.

I take it the kids who will be groomed over Zoom during lunch hours in November will be the same kids progressing to an afterschool timeslot.

A PDSB Vice Principal named Jeff Hall reposted Chanel’s tweet and encouraged everyone to “report” her, explaining that he is “tired of the harassment of staff and the risk it’s creating for students.” According to Vice Principal Hall, “the harassment must end.”

But Chanel was simply re-posting information about events taking place in schools, as she routinely does.

That any educator or school administrator would take issue with the sharing of information about things happening in their school, things that are open to students between grade 6 and 8 to “self-refer” into, is a huge red flag. What are you trying to hide, PDSB and Principal Hall?

In another tweet, Principal Hall insinuates that Chanel should be “sued or charged with a crime.” This is what I call “Pearl-Clutching on the Fainting Couch.” It is faux outrage and phony hysterics meant to distract attention away from the things they are trying to hide.

In my view, Vice Principal Hall needs to calm down. The information provided by Chanel and other independent journalists are the sources of many important conversations happening across the country. Conversations that people like Vice Principal Hall wish to prevent Canadians from having, evidently.

But it is far too late for any of these radical educators and administrators to still be thinking that doubling down on their cry-bullying is going to gain them any more ground. In fact, the radical anti-parent contingent is losing ground by the day, and this VP’s behaviour is almost certainly helping.

The majority of parents feel that students in grades 6 to 8 are too young to introduced to “gender identity” and sexual categories and encouraged to identify with them in the first place. They are children!

Why is the school constantly pushing, celebrating, offering resources, discussing, and highlighting these sensitive topics for children who are not developmentally mature enough to grasp them?

The school boards just don’t get it.

In one of their monthly letters to families, the Peel board explained that in addition to Pink Shirt Day (February 28), we now also get to celebrate “International Day of Pink” on April 12.

“Unlike Pink Shirt Day, which is meant to combat all forms of bullying, we celebrate International Day of Pink in Peel, by wearing pink, to specifically combat homophobia, transphobia and biphobia” (emphasis is mine). “All forms of bullying” seems to cover it all, but apparently that’s just not good enough.

The letter also includes a link to the PDSB identity-based data collection policy, where under “Community Engagement,” we are told:

“The PDSB acknowledges that it has to build trust with various communities. The PDSB is committed to meaningful engagement with the PDSB Community, particularly with individuals who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, gender diverse, transgender, having diverse abilities, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or individuals from equity-deserving groups. This engagement should understand their priorities, concerns, needs, experiences, and interests in the collection, Page 5 of 9 management, use and analysis of identity-based data. Meaningful engagement with the PDSB community can inform the interpretation of results that reflect their lived experiences.”

One does not need to dig very deep into the publicly available documents issued by the PDSB to immediately encounter all of the Social Justice sloganeering. The document concerning identity-based data collection informs us that the PDSB “is committed to creating learning and working environments that are grounded in the principles of equity, human rights, inclusion, anti-racism, and anti-oppression.”

Nice sounding words. Unfortunately, unless one has been initiated into the ideological tenets of Critical Social Justice, those nice sounding words will not raise any red flags. This of course, is by design.

Under the guiding principals, we are informed that the PDSB:

“believes that collecting, analysing, and using identity-based data are critical to understanding the diversity of Peel’s students, staff, and trustees, to identify the barriers and equity gaps experienced by students and staff, particularly those who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, gender diverse, transgender, having diverse abilities, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or individuals from equity-deserving groups” (emphasis is mine).

I’ll leave it at that for today. But I would ask that the reader linger on the term “equity-deserving groups” for a moment. If the reader would indulge a simple mental exercise, please leave in the comments section which group (or groups) you may have noticed the PDSB does not consider “equity-deserving.”
