School board shows true colours
The Radicals have "critical consciousness," but no respect for parents
By
On Wednesday September 27, concerned father Pierre Barns, (the researcher behind Exposing SOGI123) emailed the teacher of his young son after it had come to his attention that the teacher had told students that the September 20th 1 Million March 4 Children protest actions were “a sad day.” The teacher implied that the parents who supported the protests lacked acceptance.
All parents who supported the parents rights protest on September 20th obviously take issue with teachers essentially telling students that their parents are bigots. However, there was more to what this teacher told his students, and Pierre’s initial correspondence with him was simply asking for confirmation and clarification over what was said.
Beyond seeking an explanation for the sharing of a teacher’s negative opinion of parents involved in the parents rights movement, Pierre asked for confirmation if this teachers classroom featured a Pride flag (his son reported it did), and asked for clarification if this teacher had disclosed his brothers sexual orientation to Pierre’s son and the other students present in the classroom.
A quick side note: parents who take issue with pride flags in the presence of young children are not homophobic. Most parents believe that sexual topics should wait until somewhere around the age of 14. Kids 11, 9, 6, or 4 should not be exposed to LGBTQ and Pride signage becuase these things are about sexual identity. I was recently in my kids school, which only has students up to grade 6 (12 years old). I encountered the below image across from my 8-year old daughters locker. Notice this display is more than just rainbow colours, it features the words “Bisexual,” “Lesbian,” and “Queer.” Parents night was less than a week later, and this wall display had been removed. Why would they set it up for September only? Why was it taken down the day of parents night (my kids reported to me it must have been removed that day, as it was still there the previous day):
Pierre’s message was professional and direct. Considering the serious nature of the subject matter he is seeking clarification about, the way in which the school chose to respond is shocking. Once again the radical contingent, which has taken over critical sectors of Canadian education, has shown their true colours. It is crystal clear that they have no respect for the concerns of parents with traditional, conservative or religious values, or people who wish to preserve the innocence of children and who may prefer a degree of modesty and discretion in the way sexual topics are introduced at school, or who may prefer sexual topics not introduced at all to children under the age of 14.
That the radicals operating inside education institutions are unable to approach a parent like Pierre Barns with understanding and respect, says everything Canadians need to know about why these Social Justice radicals embedded themselves in the education infrastructure in the first place. They are not interested in traditional, conservative or religious values - they make a mockery of those things, and the people who practice them are consistently and unfairly labelled far-right racist transphobes.
The radical agenda is to tear down the structures of Western institutions, while simultaneously bringing about a situation of mass societal consensus on social matters called “critical consciousness.” Not to offend the reader, but honestly, if this critical consciousness ever reaches a critical mass…we are fucked!
Those who are gripped by Social Justice/woke critical consciousness are unable to perceive any problem what-so-ever with contradictions constantly being revealed as their ideological sloganeering gets confronted with reality. While they say they are inclusive and wish to promote diversity, acts of confutation, like those performed admirably by parents like Pierre, seem to make little difference to these ideologues who have long ago abandoned reason, pursuing instead with unrelenting fervour, a radical agenda, that demotes parents to secondary players while promoting the state to the roll of primary decision maker concerning the transference not just of education, but of moral virtue, to young Canadian learners.
The problem is, I have yet to meet one Canadian parent who wishes to cede their parental responsibilities to the state, or who thinks that the state can do a better job of transferring cultural heritage to young impressionable minds.
Below, is a copy of the email correspondence between Pierre Barns and the Abbotsford School District, in Abottsford, British Columbia (Michael is the teacher):
Dear Michael,
I am writing to address some concerns that have come to my attention. Can you please confirm whether you did, in fact, inform your class that September 20th was a sad day due to the low attendance and whether you made remarks implying that people attending the protest lacked acceptance or similar comments? Additionally, could you confirm whether a pride flag is displayed in your classroom? Lastly, I require clarification regarding the disclosure of your brother's sexual orientation while my son was present during a classroom session. I expect a prompt response to these inquiries.
Regards,
Pierre Barns
Even though the school Superintendent had previously sent a letter to parents stating, “if parent have questions about resources, materials or discussion taking place in classrooms, please have conversation with your child’s teacher or school Principal,” Michael, did not quite live up to this empty promise, nor did the school board. Below is the response Pierre received from Deputy Superintendent Nathan Ngieng:
Dear Mr. Barns,
I am the Deputy Superintendent of the Abbotsford School District and am responsible for inclusive education in the School District. On my advice, Mr. Nomellini will not be responding to you.
Our teachers are professionals who abide by both the District's expectations and the professional standards of the Ministry. They deliver content in age appropriate ways that reflect the required provincial curriculum. As you are undoubtedly aware, the provincial curriculum is focused around viewing issues from a perspective of respect and inclusion. We will continue to encourage our teachers to do so in a respectful and professional way, and expect parent communications to be in the same manner.
The District will not be engaging with you further on this matter.
Nathan Ngieng
Deputy Superintendent
Next, a reasonable response from Pierre, who I’m sure was furious, but kept his cool all the same:
Dear Nathan,
You are overstepping your boundaries here. The questions I've posed to Michael are unrelated to the topic of inclusion. I wanted Michael to confirm whether this specific subjects was addressed in the classroom. This confirmation was important for deciding how I should proceed with this matter. If Michael is sharing the sexual orientation of his brother with students while my son is present in the classroom, I want to understand why and in what context. Additionally, I am concerned about Michael expressing prejudice against parents who protest, which I find unacceptable. Lastly, I disagree with Michael displaying any flag in his classroom besides the Canadian flag unless he teaches geography.
Given Michael's apparent unwillingness to address my concerns and what I perceive as an inappropriate response on your part, I have significant concerns about my son's safety and well-being in Michael's classroom. As communication seems to be restricted, I hereby request that my son be promptly removed from Michael's classroom and transferred to an alternative class where flags are not displayed, and where the teacher's ideological influences are not a prominent factor.
Kind Regard,
Pierre Barns
In the following shocking response to Pierre’s request to have his son moved to another class, the Deputy Superintendent refuses and suggests Pierre move his son to an “independent school, a different school within the district where there is capacity, or to homeschool.” Here is the full response :
Mr. Barns,
I am in receipt of your request to have your child assigned to another class at Eugene Reimer Middle School because of your disagreement with the learning environment in your child’s current classroom.
Placement of students is specifically the responsibility of the principal, who assigns children to particular teachers based on a variety of factors, including learning styles and abilities, balancing students needs, the obligations under the collective agreement, and any other relevant input received from teachers or parents on those matters. I have consulted with the school admin, and given the assessment of the above factors, we will not be moving your child to a different classroom at Eugene Reimer.
If you wish your child to be in a different learning environment, you are free to enroll them in an independent school, a different school within the district where there is capacity, or to homeschool them. You should know that in any classroom in our district, the curriculum will be followed and that all students will be valued and respected.
Yours truly,
Nathan
The radical agenda unfolding in Canadian education is openly hostile to parents like Pierre. They won’t lift a finger to accommodate any of his concerns. When one considers the lengths taken to accommodate groups we are told are “historically marginalized,” it should be abundantly clear that the radicals running the clown show are deliberately hostile and oppositional to the majority of Canadian parents.

I think all of these boards are the same no matter what the issue. When my children were in school the local board felt empowered to allow Christian fundamentalists in the school to indoctrinate the kids with right wing Christianity. My objections fell on deaf ears. Fortunately, a letter I had written fell into the hands of a major newspaper and the next thing I knew, I was on the front page and doing a talk show on a local radio station. Other major newspapers ran the story which severely embarrassed the board. Even at that, they were reluctant to give up. I wasn't until I filed a human rights complaint that the nuisance was abated. To my surprise, I wasn't shunned or attacked and was regarded as somewhat of a celebrity. The lesson in all this is embarrass the hell out of them any way you can. It will work.

The only way I see to win this and regain control and respect over our lives, our family values, and our minds is to take our kids out of school. I know it is easier said than done- but it is necessary- extreme times require extreme measures- these people need to be reminded that they have a job because of our kids!
